phone photos

Hubby came home with a card to get my photos off my phone. I've had it for almost 3 years, but could never get the photos off. It was pretty cool to see the kids so little and a few places we visited over the years.
I often use the phone to take pics of inspirational things when I'm out.
Like this crochet blanket!!!!

I'm not quite sure where it's from, but I think maybe Anthropologie??? Not sure. My one trip there for 3 minutes before they closed. drool drool.

Here's a pic I had taken this past Christmas of me in my caroling garb. Luckily, it wasn't a cold day for that 3 hour gig in a little, wee, tiny strip mall. There was even a time where we just stood in a little patch of sunlight with no wind and sang and sang and sang. There were many grateful people stopping and commenting at that place. Maybe that's why I choose that gig every year.

This is where we spent a lot of the past summer and will probably spend this summer there also. It is a beach about 5 minutes from here. We would meet friends under the tree and have to move our blankets throughout the day for it's shade.
All the children were most happiest there. No squabbles, many imaginative games and adventures and just a big buffet of food for the taking. And the adults actually had many opportunities for real conversation, uninterrupted. And many a
tooth fairy bag stitched up. Ah, the lovely days of summer.

Oh, here's a recent project. My son's teacher has 3 boys in hockey. So I imagined she spent at least some time at the arena. So I whipped up these little handwarmers. I used the same kind of patchwork as found in
these wristlets. Then put rice in them. Warm them in the microwave for a minute and you're good to go.

Off to go family skating tonight. it's a calm day here and not much below zero. skating at night is a fun way to welcome the weekend. Rosy cheeks and a bit of hot chocolate and smelling of fresh air before bed.

have a great weekend,
Amanda

a new trend spotted

I've been spending the last few days trolling through the Sew Mama Sew blog. they are having a huge giveaway hosted by bloggers all over the world. I had intended to contribute, but missed the deadline. Definitely next time for sure!
Anyhow, in my perusing, I'm noticing some great fabrics and projects of Matryoshka dolls. New trend? I haven't seen anything around here yet, just from other countries.
Take a look at the giveaway of this blog
Very Purple Stuffs to see what I mean.

I was excited to work on my fleece scarf with a pocket and made the 1st set of pockets too small for my daughter's hands. Luckily, I didn't sew it on, but I did make them as cupcakes. So now I have a few cupcake appliques for another project. I came downstairs for something, hit a button on the computer and have been blurfing ever since. Hate when I get sucked into the blurfing vortex. Gonna git off my butt and cut out some flowers for hairclips.

MINI VACAY

We're having a great day in Ottawa. or should I say, parts outside of it. My husband is participating in a sailing regatta this weekend and we're staying at a friend's place that I've known since Acadia university days. The kids are getting along famously, the little animal farm with gigantic play area was a huge hit and we're off to the sailing club for some bday cake and a steak dinner. yes, 'tis some good tell yer mudder! All this to say.... I haven't made anything to show ya. Oh wait, I did. I made a little shopping bag for my friend. I'll take a pic later and post it.

hungry kids are waiting.
Thanks for stopping by...

Colouring Jackpot!!!

you know how you meet people, know them for years, know what they do for a living and then you actually get to see parts of their worK? Well, my friend is an interior designer. She has decided to take another path and start an on-line, eco friendly toy store. Go check her out at www.littlefootprintstoys.com Great stuff there. No really, go check it out!

With her shift in focus, she has lent me her colouring utensils!!!!!
Can you say JACKPOT!!!!

Look at all these pencils!!!! My odorless mineral spirits are calling me!!

And as if that isn't enough!!!!

Look at these markers!! More shades of brown than occurs in nature I tell ya! The smell when you open the tin they came in is overwhelming. I just need to get a blender marker now.

And the best toy of all......

How many times have I dreamed of trying one of these babies out. You see them on others blogs and just dream...
So now I can play, play, play.

Thanks Barb for the toys.
Speaking of toys, watcha waitin' for, go to www.littlefootprintstoys.com

thanks for looking,

who can guess?

What is it? What is it?

It's a Canadian Dime with the Bluenose Schooner on it. NO! Beside it are 2 jagged pebbles that came out of my daughter's nose this morning!! OUCH! lol

Yesterday we were at the playground and I thought she might have put a stone up her nose. It started bleeding profusely a while later. you should have seen a bunch of mothers digging for napkins and tissues and the advice flying around a crying, bleeding kid. Because of my suspicion, I didn't freak out. Just hoping that if it was the cause, it wouldn't be in her nasal cavity or sinuses.

Anyhow, a few sneezes this morning and out it popped without too much fanfare.

No cards today.

Thanks for sticking around for the story.
