cheery time

shhhhh.... I'm home alone. on a Sunday , after church. eating a bacon and egg sandwich with 5 year old Canadian white cheddar. Listening to Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe. Perfection. Shhhhh. I don't know when everyone is coming back. But I hope it's not a for a while! lol

Last night, we went to a family meal to celebrate a dear Tia's bday last month. I made this card using Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits. used the Polka Dot basics 2 on the side of the card and some Bella dots on the bottom. Pleased that the retired SU purely pomegranate matched the current cherry paper.

Almost finished my sandwich. Now must go to my room and sew, sew sew. Little girl headbands are on the menu today.

A bird and a song

I got some time this evening to make some cards. I guess I was in a scrappy mood, by the looks of my 5 card stash! So more to come. One at a time girls, one at a time.

This one uses Cuttlebug music embossing folder, Quickutz bird, nestabilities label die, and Stamping bella's wacky weeds. the sentiment is from a shop in Lunenburg, NS.

We're off camping for the weekend. Should be fun. Looking forward to more swimming. the kids love it. And I love them being old enough to do it.

new home card

Lookeee here! I made a card!

Loving this little birdie and house. And the polka dots. I feel I'm a little out of the loop on the new card making stuff. I haven't been to a scrapbook store since May! can you believe it? But I'm getting in the mind set to start making some of my glass ornaments and practice my soldering again.

I think we're back on this time zone, so my energy level after dinner will allow me to create and make. I bought a batch of new fabrics that i have visions for also. The only thing I'm getting done are crochet flowers. I take those to the parks while the kids play.

Speaking of such, I can't wait for the city strike to be over. the pools and wading pools and summer programs are all shut down. It's sad. the kids are so eager to go swimming. Looking for some other things to do instead of the splash park near here. I'm getting a nice go on my bicycle though. And pulling 2 kids in the bike trailer makes for a good workout. It's all uphill on the way home.

Oh, some details on the card: Bird and house Quickutz, Branch and star-Stampin' Up!, Oval-nestabilities, paper-2 different kinds, sorry, don't know. Star tags, maybe prima? Comes in a little can. Sentiment-Stamping bella

That's all for now, got my desk cleared a little so hopefully I'll get to more papercrafts. I wanna scrap a page or 2 of our holiday.

weeds'n butterflies

Here's a card I inspired by the fabric in the previous post.

Stamp is from Stamping Bella, buttflies- Martha Stewart punch, corners-foamies. Distressed the edges and messily sewed the card. Done.

Off to have a nap before our lobster supper. YUMMMMMMM.
Happy Mother's day!

We've moved

No not us, yet, but a coworker of my husband is moving. So I brought this to the dinner.

The wood box and buckle are from the buck store. Paper is Autumn Leaves? Flower- prima and ribbon from my stash.

I covered a little note book with the same paper. The wagon on the card is from Stamping Bella and the house is from the Stampin' Up! jumbo wheel. Just let me say, put a few rows of that wheel on a page and the kid will stay quiet for a LONG time. colour, colour, colour, cut cut cut. bliss bliss bliss.

That's it. Thanks for looking,

birds and flowers

I've been working on scrapping this picture for some time now. Nothing ever worked for me. Finally, 1 day before it's delivery, i figured it out.

The silver dandelion and the wacky weed is from Stamping Bella.

Sentiment is from a sticker pack. The white paper is embossed with sentiments about family. I was thinking I should rub some silver paste over it to bring it out, but it was late, i was lazy. :} The photo corners were just silver heat embossed on paper.

The big challenge with this layout was to keep it flat. The frame has no give to it or space in between, so it couldn't be overly embellished.

Have a great weekend!!!

Dancing girl

Well HELLLOOO!!!! I'm back. thank you for returning although I haven't given you anything new in a week! I think that's the longest dry spell I've ever had! I was crocheting flowers though. I should take a pic before I send them off with hubby tomorrow.

Anyhow, I did get to play today. 3 projects, so I won't leave you for so long.

Here is a name badge for one of my cousin's children. More to come another day.

The ballet shoes are Quickutz and the sentiment is from Stamping Bella, as is the one on the other side.

This image is tutuface, also from Stamping Bella. I really need to go visit her soon. have you SEEN the new things she has?? I'm sure shoppers have been shrieking all week. My goodness, how to make a grown woman happy!

Butterfly is Martha Stuart punch (have you seen the cute little easter punches of chicks and bunnies. Too cute) and the letters are Quickutz moxie.

My LSS, www.scrabooksbydesign.ca, (they also do online orders and I can't get it to link properly,. so cut and paste to see it) is having a 2nd hand sale tomorrow. i've been saving myself all week! only problem is that I sing at church until noon and that is when the sale starts. So I miss out on some cool stuff I bet. They are lined up waiting before it opens.

Thanks for looking,
off to sing on this dull, wet, dreary day.

Super Tyler

remember this idea i had, but didn't know how to finish?

This came to me in a dream. K, not earth shattering, but I like it.

I used SU star jumbo wheel on Pacific blue CS. Flock on the cape. As noted before, colour the area 1st so you don't see the white base. Houses are SU jumbo wheel on kraft CS. Super Tyler stamp is from Stamping Bella.

umm, yeah, that's about it for now. off to play. making some thank you cards for a friend's new baby. more on that later.

The Queen of Hearts...

She made some tarts, all on a summer's day...
That children's song comes to mind when I look at this card.

See the sparkle on that baby!!???!!

Still stuck on a brown and pink theme for valentines as it is stuff out on my desk right now. And the spahhkly paper. I wish I could get it in red.

I used the negative pieces from the balloon hearts on the previous post. I paper pierced the brown edges and popped it up. The glitter dots are from Stamping Bella.

This idea was an extra (not one of my 5 thought up in the light of dawn). bonus. I think I have another to try later.

Little birdie calls hello

Wow, lame subject header eh?

I had a great day today! Before I even opened my eyes this a.m., I had 5 valentine card ideas. The worst part was trying to remember them before I got to write them down. And I did, at a greasy sppon in my neighbourhood. no kids, just me, my sketch book and a warm breakfast already cooked for me. And no cleaning up. Doesn't that just sound heavenly? once in a blue moon.

here is the 2nd card I made today from that list:

Balloons are from Quickutz, bird from hero arts. pink polkadot paper from Doodlebugs and the lace ribbon I bought at Stamping Bella. didn't even remember I had it till I went ribbon searching. Score! Everything from the White cardstock up is popped up. Click on photo for larger view. I took a close up, angled shot, but the colours were really off, so I'm not going to show it.

Had a lovely afternoon also. The temps were a warm 4 degrees. You could feel the warmth of the sun. So i prepared a picnic lunch, got the kids dressed in snowpants and we headed to the local park to go sledding. Great time, but the best part was having a picnic in the snow and drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows. Only regret was not bringing the camera. Oh well, other outings to come, I'm sure.

pout much?

Whipped this layout up tonight, This is the photo I wanted to use my crochet flowers on. I've been making all kinds and shapes and sizes. But the other day, I bought this bazzil textured paper and had it on my desk. I also was looking thru my bucket of primas (bought at Stamping Bella) and had them on the paper. BAM! idea came to mind.

I was first thinking of putting different coloured thread in the buttons, but decided to make it monochromatic when I found this slippery cotton in my embroidery floss box. Yes, the picture is yellow. I special effect-ed it that way. Had I known I was going to do this layout, I probably would have antiqued it a bit or washed it out some more. The letters some from a stack, I mean , maybe over 75 pages of letter punchouts I bought at a 2nd hand sale for 2 bucks!! Colours galore!

I shall use this kind of layout again. I'm curious to try it with coloured thread.

Toolafella

I decided I needed to add a new fella to my stamping room... Meet Toolafella from Stamping Bella. I mean, I have the tape measure paper, the screw eyelets, friends that are a little handy, or at least try to be. So he needed to come home with me. lol

Post it note holder

I had fun last night making up these post it note holders. Quick and cute:

I was looking over the internet to find a template for some kind of holder, but didn't find one that was easy. There is something where you put the pencil inside the spine, but I couldn't find the directions. So I made my own.

The original was the reindeer one. it has a little pocket inside. When I was putting the others together, I noticed the little pocket could be a flap/cover. I tried it with some silver elastic cord, but it was bulky. Then my eye spied the lovely garter ribbon from Stamping Bella. Small, stretchy and visually appealing. Leave it to Emily to find such treasures. :} The pink pompom ribbon is also from Stamping Bella. You really should go there! So much in a small space.

I decorated the front with a few simple things, die cut shapes from Quickutz and the label 1 nestability. The sentiment is made from Karen Foster snap stamps that have been retired. The paper is from K&Company.

The possibilites are endless. I'm looking forward to making a few more and handing them out to my friends.

Tutu Face

Hello!

I've been busy, but didn't take pictures. I have some now, so I'll be a little more regular in the next few days.

This is a card for my friend's daughter. Her party is tomorrow. Think this is a good card for a 3 year old?

Image and sentiment is from Stamping Bella. Love it. Can't tell ya much more about the rest of the products. Simple layout.
I just finished 24 shower thank you cards and a few little keychains. Off to try a few bookmarks before bed. Gotta get these ideas out of my head.

New bird house

A friend of mine is moving to a penthouse this weekend, so I made this card and it will actually go in the mail tomorrow. (along with my mom's bday card ahem)
The birdhouse image is from a dollar store in NS. The new home is from a buck stamp from Michael's and the orange bird is from the buck store and made of metal. There are also yellow and green birds in the pack that can go with kiwi kiss.

Hey, speaking of kiwi kiss, see how well it matches the background colour of the photo. It's my kitchen. You've seen it in my photos before. It's a perfect match for kiwi kiss. We painted it 6 years ago!! Are we ahead of our time or what? It was quite revolutionary when we first did it. We had the opportunity to repaint a few months ago, but I told my husband, "We can't change the colour now! It's a Stampin' Up IN COLOUR!" LOL

k, enough banter.. here's the card...

Can't really tell ya what effect I was going for or what layout I was trying to accomplish. Just wanted to use the paint chip DH brought home last month. Oh yes, the ribbon is a delish garter ribbon from Stamping Bella. I have to make another trip there soon. She always has the latest stuff that makes a grown woman squeal!

Hoping to get to play a bit tomorrow morning.

Amanda

nuthin'

Been busy around here singing and rehearsing for concerts. It has been a few years since I've performed on stage as soloist and in the choir. Man, you should have seen me trying to find my "uniform" Whites and blacks. I finally got it all together and have to do 2 more concerts on Saturday. I'm so out of singing shape in terms of endurance. Binder back (tensing up from holding the binder in place for so long) being stuck in between 2 people in the row and not being able to spread my wings. :} And then there are the control top hose and the lovely looking shoes, not so lovely to stand in for hours. But hey, I love it!! Nice to do it again.

So, all that to say, I don't have much to show ya. Just a few bibs I did a while back.
The bibs are from IKEA. The apple is from SU Tart and Tangy and both sentiments are from Stamping Bella.

This star is from a kid's block of foam stamps from Michael's years ago.

Hoping to get some time to craft on Friday??!! Maybe.

story of a family

A frind of mine requested a card for a pregnant friend, but wanted it to be very special. Somehow to tell a story. So here it is....
Opening page is of the bride and groom.. chipboard to boot.

The middle page needs a little translation: living in their home and cupid stirkes..

Thus....

So you get it?
Houses from Stampin' Up, preggabella from Stamping Bella. Paper is from SU, but I can't remember the name. It is the new one. Card is a tri-fold.
Umm...
that's about it for now. Gotta go watch Coronation Street. :}

funky thanks

DH wanted a few thank you cards. Don't you feel so justified, when your partner requests a card and you can just go away and bring one back!?? lol No running to the store to look at all the sentiments and find the right card. you just make one yourself and tell him to write what he wants inside. The card is the picture on the front, not the words inside. Know what I mean? :}

This image is Funky Dandelion from Stamping bella. I was playing with the faux embossing technique, but I didn't look up how to do it. So I know I did it incorrectly, but I liked what I did. It is hard to see the detail in these blah lighting, kitchen pictures.

This is the first one I did.

Changed it up a bit with a little narrower block and popped up the image on pop dots.

Used Quickuts basic phrases for the thanks. I finally found a Happy Birthday set which will be on my next to get list.

Don't ya love those wee wee little tiny brads. Soo tiny. can't remember who it's from. Sorry.

There ya go. I went with the easy card. I also made one in black and grey. Just figuring whether I should use a little colour for the thanks and matting.

Amanda

super boy

Howdy!
Not much happening in my stamping world these days. I did play with my brayer yesterday and some fish. The fish set was given to me by my friend, Dorothy. It is a SU set from 1997. I can't wait to play with it again. And she also gave me a golf set from the same year. Awesome. Thanks so much Chloe.
Here is an image that I did last week. it is to go with the pirate card for Sam and Evan, 2 year old twins. Cutie pies.
houses Image is from Stampin' up!, Super Tyler is from Stamping Bella. Houses is on kraft CS and coloured with SU markers. I coloured the windows in white to pop it up. Still thinking of how to put it on a card.

Yesterday after nap, we went to the beach. We're having such a wonderful week weather wise, that we took it to the water. We had so much fun playing, playing, playing. It was one of those magical, happy times.

Georgina Glamourpuss

This is a card we did at the Bella Party last week. It is Georgina Glamourpuss. Say it again, I know you wanna.:}

It was my 1st attempt with Copics. Yeah, I need to play a lot more with them. But not much time, as Nicky had a full night for us. I did get to play with the colour pencils and odorless mineral spirits again. I bought the stuff, just haven't used them a lot yet. the OMS make me giddy. believe it or not.
See the sparkle? I used glitter! Not happily, but I did, on several cards. It even got on my face ! Shock. lol

Too much light in my eyes today. this time of year, the angle of the sun blinds me. Especially when it reflects off things in the house. PING. Unexpected bright lights don't do so well with me. Gotta go mend.
