a bird in the hand... and a parcel in the mail

Remember the Sew mama Sew giveaway back in May? Well, I won 2 giveaways. the first from Kickapoo Chronicles can be seen here
The 2nd, from
Oh Angelina! has been trying to get here since then.

This lovely linen printed pouch and crochet goodies were making their way from Australia, but got interrupted by the Canada Post strike. Now that the strike is over, it's starting to feel like Christmas here.
The crochet flower is very intriguing in it's making. i still haven't figured it out. Nice indeedy.
Thanks Angelina for the giveaway. It's going to be used for something special to be sure.

Around the same time, I signed up for a bird swap hosted by We Bloom Here
I finally received one of the birds from Tanja at Watermellish Another parcel from Australia. (sidenote: When I was a papercrafter, there was a community with a lot of stampers from England. Seems this Waldorf inspired, home schooling, creating back to nature kind of crafting has found me a nice community of Aussies. Kinda cool)

Here is her inspiration:
"Tanja (Australia) of the blog Watermellish says of her birds: [They] were inspired by the dozen or more families of Fairy Martins which live under our verandah. I made some wee birds from a modified Spool Bluebird pattern. I shrunk the pattern and changed the shape of the tail. I also designed, knit and felted a little nest for each of my swapees based on the bottle-shaped mud nests these birds create."

After such lovely packages, my son gathered up our little collection of birds sitting about.

I think it's missing a penguin.....

Have a good one,
Amanda

Kickapoo Chronicles Collage- I won.

Did you go blurfing during the Sew Mama Sew giveaway?!
I was lucky enough to win! How exciting!
I won this beautiful collage from Kickapoo chronicles

A beautiful piece of detailing. I waited until the sun came out to get a close up so you could see the subtle shadows from the layers.

You can read more about it and the process on her blog. Kickapoo chronicles She has such lovely work. Thanks Tammy for such a great offering.

Neve was so excited when we opened the package. She spoke in whispers and talked about where to put it so she could see it when she woke up in the morning. Then it would make her happy when she woke up tired. Me too!

Have a good one,
Amanda

Sew Mama Sew GIVEAWAY!!!!

Welcome to By Hook & Thread! I'm so excited that you're here for the great giveaway.
Sew Mama Sew May Giveaway!
Today's theme is Red and Grey.

Tea pot not included.
First up is a tea pot cozy made from reclaimed sweater ribbing. The back is in once piece, also from a felted wool sweater.

It will keep your pot warm for the 2nd cup after you've read through a bunch of other giveaways.

Along the same lines is a tea bag cozy. Now you can bring your favorite tea with you.

And something for the little man in your life (or wee lass) ARRRGGGGG!

Here is a needle felted ladybug ring.

And the back, I love the little heart on the back. (it's hard to take a picture of a ring that you can't put on your hand. I had the wrong lens and couldn't back away far enough.)

And lastly, a little sweater pouch. Coins? bandaids? hair clips? Up to you. It isn't lined.

So there you go... a whack of loot in red and grey waiting for you!

And as a bonus, one of these guys, he has a bit of orange, but he' also grey!

Just tell me where you're from. If you follow me, write a 2nd comment telling me so for an additional chance to win! I will ship internationally. I will leave comments open until May 25 in the evening after the kids have gone to bed. Winner will be selected by random generator.

Comments are now CLOSED! I'll be back in a minute while I count things up.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you again!
Cheers,
Amanda

GIveaway winner!!

WOW! Thanks to all who commented and became followers to my little world! It was astounding the response and kind words you gave. Alas, I don't have enough for all of you, so I let random Generator choose for me:

Having some trouble getting the picture of it here.
It was 423. Winner is Amy from Radseams Congrats! I'll send you an email.

Please send me your mailing address so I can get it in the mail ASAP. Probably won't get it for Christmas, but better to have than to have not, yes?
Here is a pic of the winnings

I never was able to get a picture of the doll sling in action. My model is STILL sick. fever, napping, whining, cough, snuffles etc. at least it's not barfing etc. k, enough of that.
So here is the picture from the pattern that belonged to a friend's grandmother. I'm planning on doing a tutorial for this with my amendments for doll sizes of today. Maybe after Christmas. Quickest, easiest doll sling around. And I've been looking for a year or 2.

Once again, thanks for your words. Come back again, I have a few more ornaments to show you.

Fa-la-la-la-la

May Giveaway!!!

Well hellooo!

If you've come from Sew Mama Sew, welcome to my little piece of the world. If you're a regular reader, you are in for some fun! Because it's Sew Mama Sew May Giveaway day!!!

EDIT: I'm blown away by your positive responses! Thanks so much for commenting and stopping by.

So on to the giveaway....
I'll call this the "girlie" giveaway. (sorry for those with boys, I'm sure some you can find some willing little girl to accept it, should you win!)

You get to pick a colour of pom pom skirt for your wee one.

It has adjustable waistbands so they can grow into it.

2nd prize is a "Princess and the Pea" playset that includes 7 mattresses, 1 sleeping bag, 1 wool felted pea and 1 princess doll.

Your child can use the playset to retell the story or make up their own happy ending.....

All you have to do to win is tell me where you're from.. yep, that's it. Oh, if you want to be a follower, you're welcomed to do that too. Just send off another comment and you'll have 2 chances. I'll be choosing by number out of a hat so the kids can play along. I'll leave the comments open until Thursday evening and announce the winner on Friday morning. Please leave some way for me to contact you through your email or website.
EDIT: You get both prizes. You only have to choose a skirt colour! And I do ship internationally.

One last thing, if you are knowledgeable and have experience about wool felt and where to order it, I would appreciate a comment. If you have a Canadian supplier, even better, I'm a little scared about cross border shipping and duty fees.

Thanks for looking and go look some more.
HAPPY BLOG HOPPING
