invasion of the peggies!

THese guys have been steady companions over the summer.

And are most fun to set up...

A motley crew of pirates, gnomes, fairies, elves, santas

all coming together for a morning meeting.

some with hats, some without.

A few of them escaped!!!!! and were hiding in the garden.

Almost lifelike!

With limbs and all. And gardening tools to boot.

Oh the excitement of it all! He can't believe his eyes!

Pixie Pop

Hi everyone,
Here's a great game for the kiddies that I saw over at We Bloom Here, who saw it at Kleas
(sorry for the poor photos, it was a dark, gloomy, rainy day and I was sick sick sick on the couch.) I don't think I even have this in a good story telling order, but here goes..
after making the pixies (most excellent tutorials in links above, find some kind of lever device. I tried the popsicle stick with a dowel, but this combination made the best jump for us. a nail file and a sharpie. Oh, i got the kids to spend some time making the faces on the pixies by 1st sanding a bit of the varnish off with the nail file so i could catch up with the hat sewing in my ill health. They really enjoyed giving them personalities. That activity in itself was amusing.

glue the same coloured pieces of felt inside the carton. If they get it in, it's a point. If they get it in the right colour, 3 points. Be warned, pixies will be flying all over the room until you get the knack for popping.

They spent another few days playing meeting with the pixies. Here's the mayor. He held a very long meeting for about a day. Long winded I guess.

The only picture of some faces. they look like they're having a good time. Maybe the mayor is talking about tax breaks and free popcorn.

And the last shot of an aerial view...

Apologies for the lack of posts lately. I'm on the Fun Fair Committee at my kids' school. There are 3.5 of us doing the whole thing! Crazy. I'll be having a table there with my things. Luckiliy, I have a bunch of stuff leftover from another sale, so that's what they'll get. Ever feel that what you put on the table is not representing all that you can do? I don't have any roving/felted things. Only some birds. What about my penguin and owls and acorns and soap?ugh.

The fun fair will have a crazy hat contest. My son has decided he wants to win the tallest hat. If he doesn't, it should be the most original. It's going to be a sandwich, made out of foam. yep, crazy I am. After making a few little sandwiches and burning my fingers once too many on the hot glue, I called it a night and went to bed at 9:30. yep, woke up at 4:30 with a full night's sleep. So here I am. Maybe I'll have some breakfast now, the sun is coming up and the birdies are singing. :}

have a good one,
Amanda

gnome garden set x 3!

Nothing like an order to set the assembly line productivity!
Here are the gnomes for the garden gnomes playset.

a great place to hang.

And when you're tired, just take a nap. that pillow looks a little hard though!

Here they are all spread out. (Geesh, did I take any in focus pictures today? I dislike the inability to take pictures outside)

And now they are closed up and ready to travel.

Fun times ahead for these 3 girls!

Thanks for looking,
Amanda

another rainbow playset

apologies for the dark pictures on a gloomy day. at least it's not raining now.

This one is a little too much red. think i'll switch the gnome up for blue and have a different colour flower instead of the red heart. yes?

why not have fun with the stacker?

And it fits in the bag...

Ready to take out the door when you go...

You want an elf with that santa?

You know it had to happen.

Elves!

And aren't these tress just perfect for that computer geek of yours? Mine found these kits and made some for the kids. I sent him back out to buy more to have at my table this weekend. Think of it, perfect for that little something for your guy, computer teacher, computer fixer, the nerd, the techie, the guy that got dragged to the sale and is looking interested as his missus looks at stuff.

And here's the happy family. eyes. I think the elves need eyes. After all, they have to see who's naughty and who's nice.

Have a good one,
Amanda

Max Santa

so when I made Max the gnome the 1st time, I knew he was gonna come back as a Santa gnome.

Especially when Fabricland was having a buy 1 get 2 free sale on fake fur!

Fun to make and fun to love.

Original gnome pattern from More Softies Only a Mother Could Love Santa adaptation by me.

Oh, one other thing, I'm thinking of opening an etsy shop, but I'm scared! Anybody out there have the same feeling when they started? Advice appreciated.

have you been to Ikea?

the last thing you get to at the end of the store is the christmas Section. I have to say, quietly, I was excited to see it. shh.
And so excited to see the theme this year. Last year's didn't excite me much. But this year!!!!! GNOME CITY!

Aren't they the cutest? It's felt! (well, not the good stuff) but it's felt! agghhhh. Comes in a package of 6. And there is matching paper!

Too much I tell ya.

This felt star is a tree topper for only $1.99! Almost as good as giving them away. :} you know what I imagine them as?? A very large ornament with our names embroidered on them. can you see it? You will when I get it done.

So it was a good visit to Ikea. plus the obligatory visit to the snack shop. a few lovelies there too.

And now to switch back to Halloween, here is the Alvin costume. A red t-shirt with a yellow A over the red hoodie. Yeah refashion. And his dad's hat with the red panel and A to cover up the logo. There was a little fleece tail on the back too. People were shouting out to him all day... "ALVIN!"

We had a great night trick or treating and seeing our neighbours. A lady on the corner hires a fire breather every year and it is a main event. ooohs and aahhhs.
Hope you had a good one,
Amanda

max the gnome

Once I had a millisecond, Rafael was all over me to sew his gnome. watching over my shoulder.

His name is Max. Max goes everywhere, except outside, "he may get dirty". Oops, hope Rafael doesn't see this post!

Max had a great time hiding on me.

Showing up with the strangest friends...

But he has a good heart.

Just like his new guardian.

Gnome giveaway!

Giveaway is now over! Thanks for all the comments. Winner is Maureen from
Twig and Toadstool

here's my giveaway...

A little gnome, his leaf playmat/sleepingbag and a toadstool.

Made just for you.

All you do is leave a comment. Once a day until... Sunday Night July 25. that's it. I'll send internationally.

I know, the colours are a bit inconsistent. I played with some settings in iphoto. forgive, but it's still green and red.

It was hard to find some green grass to take a picture on. It's dry here. They've been calling for rain and thundershowers a few times now and we didn't get them. Toronto is a weather repellant.
The city is pruning our trees right now. Hoping to save a chunk of a maple branch to make some blocks out of. they wanted to cut the whole tree down (you've seen pictures in my blog posts with it in the centre of the yard) but we've convinced them to prune it and check back in a few years. Can't imagine how it would be with that big shady tree gone. It will have to come down, eventually. The trunk would leave a huge hole and the hill it created....

enough of that.. leave a comment for the giveaway and pass it on...
thanks for looking,
Amanda
