guest birdies!

Aren't these adorable?

My friend, Charlotte, made these. She was inspired by the super Easter chicks found at Myrtle and Eunice and the wonderful birds as seen at Lupin Handmade

I had to hold my breath when I looked at them and sneak peeks of them. So precious.

And this ball. Which she says is being enjoyed by the boys of the house! As in the dad and son. Great projectile.

If you like these birds, comment and tell my talented friend that she needs to start her own blog. She's not listening to me. She needs to feel some love! lol

I was busy sewing all last week for a sale yesterday. Nothing new to show you, just multiples of what i already have. After I sew up a few orders, I'm going to start in on some new ideas for the big sale in June at my school's fun fair.

Have a good one,
Amanda

spring chickies

Inspired by Myrtle and EuniceI just had to make up a few. (phone photos, sorry)

Quick and easy to make for my music students.

Colourful. Quirky.

I'm going to put some legs on the ones for my kids. That should be fun.

Chirp, Chirp.

wool roving birds

A fanciful, bright vision for a cold, spring day.

Last summer, I made some of these butterflies
here

That were inspired by the roving birds here

Last night, I made a batch of birds from the tutorial.

Just what the weather ordered.

Then I put them on a stick. They fly for real when the wind blows.

I like these things on a string. They are just right for little kids who want a kite, but can't handle all the string. Magical.

Give it a try.

ciao,
Amanda

a quick last minute, nice looking ornament

Compliments of Elsie Marley! Go take a look.
Here's my 1st version of it.

The rest i did had the dangly bit on the bottom. i preferred it that way, just hung better. Then I glued the tail pieces to make the loops. I gave them all away. Even the one in the picture above. Have to make some more I guess. I hang all my handmade ornaments on the tree. Then when I wrap a gift or have to make up a last minute gift, I go "shopping" on my tree. So easy to see and they are all in one place.

And here is what I added to my bluebird. An eye and another dangly. I love those danglies. I ran out and then tried to remember where I bought them last year. I was set to hit the dollar stores and ended up spying them from the checkout while at Fabricland! Score! I grabbed a pack and then found out they were on sale. 40% off. bigger score! I'm sure I would have been very frustrated on my quest otherwise.

Well, feeling much better here. The last day to relax before singing takes over the next 4 days. We may even get a skate in today. Come on Dec. 27th! :}

thanks for stopping by,
Amanda

rewind

Hi Folks,
I've been sewing up a storm here. Mostly repeats of things I've done before for orders or in preparation for 2 more craft sales in a few weeks. Next year, i think i'll start making Christmas things in January. no kidding. i can't keep up.
Anyhow, Here's a post I did last Dec. The birdie from here is the same pattern for the birdies below. I just made the wings bigger and positioned them differently.
Even these birds look different now, I've added a clear seed bead for the eye and have a glass drop bead hanging from the bottom.

Read on .......

Ok, so all my 'work' surfing the blogs at night finally paid off. I've been searching for something... didn't know what it was, but something to satisfy my creating beast for the season. Well, check this out
Fa la la la la Felt
on Handmade Cathy Gaubert.

I drooled over the samples and went in search for the book. It's not out until August! So i bought the ebook. A simple process and instant gratification. Only problem is that I'm a book in my hands person. So as I find a project that i want to do, I print it off and and work from that. i think i'll have to purchase the actual papercopy when it comes out. Such great eye candy and many projects that I will do.

So here is my take on Little Birdie

Oh such fun and joy and felt!

Thanks for looking,
be back soon with something new when I can get the models in order. and better light. The weather has been gloomy to say the least.

Blue bird sparkle

Howdy!
Here's another ornament inspired by one in Crafts n' Things. I really must get back to the library to look at them again or go buy a copy.

I'm making more of these with different words on the wings. The stamps are from Stampin' Up!. Probably retired, but they may have something similar in their current catalogue.

It is stamped on artist canvas with Stazon ink. very crisp.

have a good weekend,.

few odds and ends

Whew! We're back home from a whirlwind visit to my sister in laws. I drove through every type of winter weather in 3 hours. in the dark. with a sleeping family. Lovely to visit, Glad to be home.

So here are a few things I made for my godson...

He really enjoys the felt cubes I made for him here, but the quality of felt wasn't standing up to baby drooling and chewing very well, so his mommy took it away. Being the auntie that I am, I made him a new block from fabric. And put some ribbons around it. The funnest thing about this block is the square of chip bag I sewed in one panel of the block. it crinkles! now he chews on it to his content and the ribbons have frayed as I hoped they would.

I also sewed a little square with ribbons and the chip bag liner. Here's a little tip... turn the chip bag so the silver foil side will be visible on the outside. I put the words facing out and you can see them in the block. Makes for a cute story. Their house is full of hockey fanatics, so the fabric is appreciated.

And another little birdie for the tree.( template is from Fa la la la Felt mentioned here.
this is how I finalized my ornaments this year. Just a straight stitch with enough thread at the end to crochet a loop. And a bit of stuffing in the body.

I still have to photograph the DS case I made for Rafael and the pile of sewing books I got for Christmas. When my headache goes away, I'm hoping to go visit my serger. It's waiting for me.....

Thanks for looking,
Amanda

Oh, here is a pic of the vest I wrote about a few days ago. Can you guess what it will be?? It will be a bit before I get to it, as I have to make 34 microscope slide ornaments for next week. Assembly line in my future, very near future.

Thanks for looking,
