birthday balloons and someone else's giveaway!

A quick card for a man who's not into sailing, golfing or sock monkeys. lol What do you do for a man who isn't into sailing, golf or sock monkeys? Balloons, Everyone could use a balloon or 2 on their birthday!

The white squares with the stars I picked up last summer in Laval. Wish sentiment is from Papertrey Ink- Text Boxed and the balloons are from PTI- Everyday balloon bits. inside, I used the sentiment from the same set and A wooden "fence post" from Michael's.

Take a look at this
www.frugalfamilyfunblog.com/
It's a new program where the kids can design their own stuffed animal on screen and it comes to life in the printer. Special fabric and tear away paper and a bit of stuffing makes this an easy personalized project. My kids would go nuts for this! She's giving 2 prizes away. Quick, go see...... and look around the rest of the blog. great ideas and projects.

A bird and a song

I got some time this evening to make some cards. I guess I was in a scrappy mood, by the looks of my 5 card stash! So more to come. One at a time girls, one at a time.

This one uses Cuttlebug music embossing folder, Quickutz bird, nestabilities label die, and Stamping bella's wacky weeds. the sentiment is from a shop in Lunenburg, NS.

We're off camping for the weekend. Should be fun. Looking forward to more swimming. the kids love it. And I love them being old enough to do it.

new home card

Lookeee here! I made a card!

Loving this little birdie and house. And the polka dots. I feel I'm a little out of the loop on the new card making stuff. I haven't been to a scrapbook store since May! can you believe it? But I'm getting in the mind set to start making some of my glass ornaments and practice my soldering again.

I think we're back on this time zone, so my energy level after dinner will allow me to create and make. I bought a batch of new fabrics that i have visions for also. The only thing I'm getting done are crochet flowers. I take those to the parks while the kids play.

Speaking of such, I can't wait for the city strike to be over. the pools and wading pools and summer programs are all shut down. It's sad. the kids are so eager to go swimming. Looking for some other things to do instead of the splash park near here. I'm getting a nice go on my bicycle though. And pulling 2 kids in the bike trailer makes for a good workout. It's all uphill on the way home.

Oh, some details on the card: Bird and house Quickutz, Branch and star-Stampin' Up!, Oval-nestabilities, paper-2 different kinds, sorry, don't know. Star tags, maybe prima? Comes in a little can. Sentiment-Stamping bella

That's all for now, got my desk cleared a little so hopefully I'll get to more papercrafts. I wanna scrap a page or 2 of our holiday.

Branch Out (the window)

When I saw this set in the New Stampin' Up! Catty, I knew it would be on my wish list, no, make that get it list. The little images are just sooo cute. I like little things.

it took me a whole evening and many carnations of this card to make it right. I tried an acetate window with the birdhouse stamped on it and other things inside. not so easy. then the card front was too plain, so I cuttlebuged it. Much. better.
I also made the frame with Spellbinders Label one set.

I used chalks to give the sky and dirtied the rubber boot. To add a few levels, I stamped the butterflies on the card, the bird on CS and cut it out, gluing it flat. (I made a 2nd card by just stamping on the card and hung my bird. He was hanging from a branch instead of sitting on it). The bird house is popped up on a dot. The sentiment in the corner is from a retired SU set, "Blooming with happiness" maybe?

After all of that, i felt it needed something in the front corner. I tried buttons, brads, paper flowers, ribbon glitter dots, but decided that my crocheted flower was the best. These little buttons are different. i think they are made from coconut?? It is a lighter colour on the back. i have a big button from a bag that my mother in law got from Thailand and it looks like it's the same. So maybe that's where I got the coconut idea from.

Anyhow, hope you like,
thanks for looking, and Happy pancake day!

Connect the dots Papertrey style

Did I say how much I'm lovin' this papertrey party??

I bought some new papers today from Winners. They have great scrapbook supplies. It may be last year's stock, but who cares if it's only a year old? Not me.

The white embossed paper is from a pack by DCWV and the printed transparencies is from Dena's closet? I forgot on my trip down 2 flights of stairs. The card base is from Papertrey, Spring moss as is the green ink. Love that colour. And all the other colours. :} The stamps are from Green Thumb.

Here is a close shot of the flocking I put on selected dots on the petal. Make ya feel all fuzzy? LOL half back pearls are from the buck store. The spring moss ribbon is also Papertrey.

Thanks for looking and see ya back at the party...

Heart tag

Another clean, simple Velentine card. I'm not able to think in designer paper these days. Loving all my quickutz, cuttlebug and nestabilities dies. know what I don't have though? A Happy valentine stamp. Kind of annoying me. The tag is popped up and the Stampin' Up always stamp is embossed in silver.

Kiss me...

Here is another VD card in a funny vein...

Get it? frog prince?!!?! yes? no?

My daughter chose the frog stamp at our LSS trip yesterday and I knew I had to use it for this card. The metal heart is from the buck store, the crown is a punch and the lips are from Quickutz set. I hand wrote the "Kiss me", but then found a stamp in my stash from a St. Patty's day set. I thought I'd use the acrylic for a little somethin' different.

Found: mojo??

Here is my brain with no mojo:
(the card someone threw up on) (figuratively, not literally)

It's ok, I guess. The colours weren't working for me. KWIM?

Here is my brain with some rockin' paper and colour coordination:

What a difference a piece of designer paper can make eh? Same layout, different colour scheme. that's why I've been more aware of trendy colours lately. Just stick with them and things will have a flow. try to do something different, well, maybe not so much.

I have a waterfall card I want to make for my son's 5th bday on Monday. and a slider hockey card for my brother in law. Can't wait to try them. I also need to get a whack of crochet flowers done for my daughter's layout.

We bought a Wii for Christmas. great family gatherer. i actually got to do some hoola hooping today and a bit of yoga. yes, it really does work. My husband has taken to playing Mario kart at night with others on the internet. And instead of going to my room to create, i sit in my new chair and crochet flowers. exciting eh?!?!?! lol

Post it note holder

I had fun last night making up these post it note holders. Quick and cute:

I was looking over the internet to find a template for some kind of holder, but didn't find one that was easy. There is something where you put the pencil inside the spine, but I couldn't find the directions. So I made my own.

The original was the reindeer one. it has a little pocket inside. When I was putting the others together, I noticed the little pocket could be a flap/cover. I tried it with some silver elastic cord, but it was bulky. Then my eye spied the lovely garter ribbon from Stamping Bella. Small, stretchy and visually appealing. Leave it to Emily to find such treasures. :} The pink pompom ribbon is also from Stamping Bella. You really should go there! So much in a small space.

I decorated the front with a few simple things, die cut shapes from Quickutz and the label 1 nestability. The sentiment is made from Karen Foster snap stamps that have been retired. The paper is from K&Company.

The possibilites are endless. I'm looking forward to making a few more and handing them out to my friends.

Baby shower thank you kit

I attended a baby shower yesterday and made this for the mother in waiting.

the tin case is from Lee Valley. the 53mm watchmakerm tins came in it. i have a few of these on hand from all my previous watchmake tintreasures. SO glad it all fit nicely.

The top is done with Stampin' Up! paper and nestabilities label 1 die. image is from the baby set at Joann's.

See how nicely the cards, envies and stamps fit in? the book on the right is the guest/gift book.

Here is the inside of the book. I did the template for it last spring and had to tweek it a little to remember how to print on both sides. Pain, but hopefully I'll remember for next time. Should write the specs down.

And lastly, here's the tag that came on the gift. simple.

Have a look at the stamp sets for sale below.

cupcake

here's a card I had fun with for my friend sarah's birthday. Also, my sister in law.

The cardbase is from michael's. It comes embossed already. The sparkle bits are also from a card pack. Big cupcake is from inque boutique. I used crystal effects on the cherry and leaf. The small cupcakes are from Stampin' Up!. It's the small wheel. I coloured with markers and then used chalk for the background. the little clip is from some tag maker machine. I bought a box of tags for like, 3 bucks. Shoulda bought the thank you ones also.
The hole and frame were cut from Nestabilities label 1.

I attended a birthday party for Sarah tonight. We had it at Stamping bella. Nicky did a great job with the cards again. What fun!
I have to get a pic of the card I made from the group to Sarah. A tri-fold card with Hello Kitty Paper. it was also a fun one.

Well, I put them together in this little package...

To put on the top of a wine bottle. Kind of a little hostess gift with the wine. I'm not a drinker, so when people bring wine, it's like, thanks, my husband thanks you. What about the non drinker??!!! huh? lol

The top of the bag is Nestabilities label 1 die, Merry Christmas font is from Quickutz dollar stamps, ornament QK Jolly die and the curly hook is from Walmart. Love them.

Pocket silhouettes

I caved and took advantage of the SU sale last month and bought Pocket Silhouettes.I'm always drawn to itty bitty images, but them don't know what to do with them. Here is my attempt...

I used oval Nestabilities and a few buttons I have. Other than that, pretty straight forward. Anyone have any inspiration to throw my way?? I need a good dose of it.

Welcome Neighbour!

I sat in my stamping room tonight and coloured. I couldn't think of what to make, so I happily coloured. Then I decided to make a card for the new neighbours that moved in across the street.

Love these houses from Stampin' Up!. It is the jumbo wheel. I should be getting my own tomorrow when the man in brown arrives. The twill is from joann's last year. And the tag is nestabilities. key is from the buck store. Sentiment is from papertrey ink.
I love colouring on the kraft cardstock and then adding the white with a paint pen. pops it up.

I have a few other completed things to show you, just have to get outside to snap the likeness of them. The light at night in my kitchen is blah.

Thanks for stopping by,
Amanda

Pumped???

I don't think there is any danger of my father in law reading my blog and seeing his card, so you get to see it first.

He sells and fixes pumps for a living, so I wanted to take some pump pictures at the pioneer village we went to in Portugal. Knew they would come in handy. lol

DP is Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding and the screw snaps are form Making Memories. Nestabilities and Quickutz on the inside. The sentiments are from different sets form Papertrey. Not much stamping, but it is what I wanted.

golf anyone??

I had a huge card making weekend with my sister in law. 42 elaborate birth announcement cards and 21 thank you cards and 1 simple scrapbook page layout. Whew!! But it was fun and gave an accomplished feeling.

This card was requested for a friend of theirs who is turning 40. He is also a golf player and I was excited to finally use my golf ball and tee Quickutz die that I've had for some time.
Paper is Stampin up, number is Cuttlekids, oval: nestabilities. Cuttlebug folders and a few eyelets. Voila.

I did get to go to a scrapbook store called Scrapbook Quebequois. Great stuff and great prices. I found only 1 french sentiment which was a little disappointing. It's a get well soon one.

Well, after being in the car for 8 hours for a 5 hour car trip, I'm ready to go to bed.

Baby Announcement

Here is a mock up of the announcement cards I'm going to make. They will probably look different once we go to the scrapbook store and see what Dp they have and embellishments. I"m excited as we are in Laval, north of Montreal. Maybe I can treat myself to a french sentiment or 2. I do have some french customers.

you like? It's a card front, not a whole card. Paper: not Quite Navy and Barely banana. DP is SU, but that will change. Hoping for something with stars. Star punch is SU. Glassine bag is from Papertrey Ink, sentiment: Stamping Bella, tag: nestabilities. The white stars on the top is from an acrylic set from Joann's as are the silver star embellies on the tag.

here's the best part:
the pull out will have a picture on the front. inside will have 2 vellum announcements, one in English, one in french. On the back will be a magnet so people can put it on the fridge!!!! Ain't that just da bomb??

so, off to the store once my son and his tante get out of the pool. Think I;m going to have to be very patient !lol

Flock it!

Howdy!
Another hot, sticky, sweaty day in the big city. I didn't even bother to look towards the CN tower, it's was probably lost in the smog. yuck. But local wade pools and splash pads make for a great day, even when your daughter fouls the water and they have to close the pool for an hour to treat the water!! nuff said.

On to what you're here for!

I've been wanting to try embossing the cardfront with nestabilities. Been having a bit of a time trying to do it well. I've only tried it on the SU mini cards, so don't know if it's a thinner CS. But a managed to get a few salvagable ones.

To make this little set stand out, I used some pink flocking. It doesn't show all that well in the photos. The sun was going down, but you get the idea. I used the Quickie Pen and poured the flocking on it, waited for it to dry before tapping off. Did I tell you before that I don't like flocking? I still don't like it. But it was the effect I wanted. So I suffered yet again for my art. lol

This Wacky weeds image from Stamping Bella was stamped in Spring Moss from Papertrey and then flocked in pink. The blossoms don't look as vibrant as the other flowers because I didn't make the blossoms pink first. They were green like the stem.

With the funky dandelion, also from Stamping bella, I stamped both parts of the flower in different inks. Used the glue pen to outline the flower and then applied the pink flock.

The last image is from Papertrey's Green Thumb set. I love how many different things come in it. I lost the mini strawberry though, so I'm bummed. Hoping I'll find it one day when I clean those corners of my desk. I chose to flock only a few circles for a contrast.

Well, that's it for today. Think I'll crash in front of the boob tube. Hope something decent is on.

Amanda
