games bag

This was fun to figure out.

I think it is the first time I made a quilting block like this. Any kind of quilting block. There's a reason for that. Precision. Precise I'm not. Anyhow, it works for a checker board.
And a note book to keep score of card games. (cards inside the bag)

On the other side, a tic tac toe board with a felt star from Ikea. It was in the Christmas aisle. I bought a few. Or more.

The gift's recipient likes it. that's what counts.

max the gnome

Once I had a millisecond, Rafael was all over me to sew his gnome. watching over my shoulder.

His name is Max. Max goes everywhere, except outside, "he may get dirty". Oops, hope Rafael doesn't see this post!

Max had a great time hiding on me.

Showing up with the strangest friends...

But he has a good heart.

Moon Landing

A little friend of mine had a birthday yesterday. I wanted to make something special for his great imagination..

We have landed.

A bit of fleece and some swirls of the sewing machine, you have a good moon landing.

One that has it's own carrying case...

Prepare for take off..

Blast off!

And you can hang it while you go off on another adventure!

Happy Birthday K!!! Hope you had a wonderful, adventure filled day!

Have a good one,

Car Cozy

I got this tutorial from
Handmade by Jill

Who in turn credits the idea from
My Little Gems
I made the orange cones and traffic light on my own.

I used repurposed fabric for this one. The outside was an ikea cutain in a previous life, the inside was my husband's pants. The print fabric on the bottom is a recent purchase from Fabricland.

I so love making these and have made a bunch for birthday prezzies. Please, as requested by both originators, do not make to resell.

I'm off to clean my room to play with my new to me serger! I got a grown up serger! with lots of coloured threads to boot! And i have some Ikea fabric we picked up in Portugal that I've been saving for a new choir bag. But i must clean my room first. maybe not.....

another cupcake

Here I am between masses at church, hooked into their wi-fi. Our phone line is down at home! Oh the horror! the horror!! I have to go home to no internet! gasp! LOL Hope the rain stops so we can go outside.

here's another cupcake card I made for our choir director. It was the 1st one I made of the cupcake designs. The card base is from Ikea. The cupcake is one I drew and cut out. The candle is from Michael's. Numbers is cuttlekids die.

That's about it. Looking forward to sewing Neve's dress tomorrow. May even get to it today at nap time. The kids spent the whole day from 9:30-7pm at the sailing club yesterday. Everyone is a little wiped today. We had weather from sunny and fine to raging wind storms where the boats were all blowing over on shore and there were big crashing waves and swirls of water on the lake. Leaves blowing in huge gusts! Quite an event. My husband went out in the motor boat to rescue two sailors that got caught in the storm. Yes, quite the adventure!

another boat??

Hi ho,
just a quick card I made for my DH's bday. I've had this dollar store foam stamp forever and have finally figured a way to use it. It cam on a sheet with a few other beach stamps.

Card base is a card set from Michael's a few christmas's ago. Happy Bday tag is from a card making set that my aunt sent me last year.
mmm... that's about it. It's coooold here still. You get a few days of nice spring weather, then poof... cold winds blow. bbrr. But the flowers are starting to poke their heads for a look. Can't be that far away.

monkey monkey

k, lame post title. Or should I say, ack. I'm just too tired to think right now. The time change has caught up with me. We didn't get to sleep in on Sunday, as I had to go to work, so everybody got up. We've been on the same bed time, get up schedule, which has been great. But I'm tired today.

Bet you didn't come here to learn that did you?? So here's some eye candy..

That was the inside of the card. The glitter parts are sticky stickers that are meant for glitter, etc. Can't remember the name Je m'excuse.

I just like this monkey peeking out of the hole.

All paper SU and various punches. Buttons- coconut ones from my stash.

Thanks for looking, Off to pick up hubby from the airport. yeah.

sailing with the birds

this is a set I scored at the 2nd hand sale yesterday. it was only $5!!! Close to my Heart, acrylic.

I'm not so sure I like this card, but I know that with my DH's passion of all things sailing, it will be used. I might try it again with a clear EP on the compass and sewing with my machine.
I did the birds in clear EP and bleached the paper with bleach and brush. This SU brown doesn't change colour a whole lot, but it's something different. I'll be sure to post the 2nd version, should I make it.

Super Tyler

remember this idea i had, but didn't know how to finish?

This came to me in a dream. K, not earth shattering, but I like it.

I used SU star jumbo wheel on Pacific blue CS. Flock on the cape. As noted before, colour the area 1st so you don't see the white base. Houses are SU jumbo wheel on kraft CS. Super Tyler stamp is from Stamping Bella.

umm, yeah, that's about it for now. off to play. making some thank you cards for a friend's new baby. more on that later.

Later Mater

i don't know about your house, but my guess is that if you have a boy between the ages of 1 and 8, you probably know who Lightning McQueen is. Quick, quote me your favorite line from the movie.....

Anyhow, this was super easy. The background is a piece of cardboard from a McQueen boo boo buddy I got at the buck store. I'm certainly going to be on the lookout when we get anymore McQueen stuff. I stamped the Mater and coloured it with koh-i-noor pencils and McQueen was coloured with markers. pop them up.... voila.

He shoots! He SCORES!

Nice to get this one out of my head. It's been there for a week, didn't have the right stamp. Went to Michael's, thinking I had seen one there. Looked and looked and looked. Found this one. only one! Score!

kind of one dimensional. but it's for a guy. So no ribbons here. :} I'm going to put a tab on it so you can pull him instead of moving him with your fingers. I put clear embossing powder on him to make it a little stronger. He is attached to a brad on the back that fits in the slot. The white layer is pooped up on dimensionals.

have a great weekend.

Football?

Here is a magnet I did a few years ago. Finally had my camera and the photo at the same time.
the size is about 5x7.

The letters are from the buck store as is the Dp and the mini football. The large football is made by me and I used a versa mark pen to draw the strings and then embossed with seafoam white embossing powder.

man, I can hardly see straight right now. I've been trying to crochet some hearts. I think i may have it. Everything is a learning curve with me lately, but it is nice to be challenged. maybe I'll show you some when I get a few good ones!

And finally, my 1st born turned 5 today. That's one whole hand! He was pretty excited every time the phone rang as it was family and friends for him. Too cute. And I've had enough chocolate cupcakes for a while now.

Toolafella

I decided I needed to add a new fella to my stamping room... Meet Toolafella from Stamping Bella. I mean, I have the tape measure paper, the screw eyelets, friends that are a little handy, or at least try to be. So he needed to come home with me. lol

Golf anyone?!

My son requested another afternoon in my stamping room. Yippee!! He made 2 cards yesterday for his cousins and wanted to make some today for his aunt and uncle. We managed to get this one done before his sister woke up.

He did all the colouring and even the shadow on the golf bag. i distressed the edges though.

This is the set given to me by my friend Dorothy. It is a retired Stampin' Up! set from 1997.
The little images in the left hand corner are actually 2. They were in the box that way, so I had to stamp them together to make a scene.I coloured the bag with SU marker and then pulled out the koh-i-nor pencils to shade. i didn't blend the colour, just left it.
Loving the little banner/flag on it. Simple layout, but I like. You?

Yes, I'll get to the picture taking of my stamp sets for sale soon. Also, curious who the repeat reader from Richmond Hill is! Dare you reveal yourself to me? tee hee

super boy

Howdy!
Not much happening in my stamping world these days. I did play with my brayer yesterday and some fish. The fish set was given to me by my friend, Dorothy. It is a SU set from 1997. I can't wait to play with it again. And she also gave me a golf set from the same year. Awesome. Thanks so much Chloe.
Here is an image that I did last week. it is to go with the pirate card for Sam and Evan, 2 year old twins. Cutie pies.
houses Image is from Stampin' up!, Super Tyler is from Stamping Bella. Houses is on kraft CS and coloured with SU markers. I coloured the windows in white to pop it up. Still thinking of how to put it on a card.

Yesterday after nap, we went to the beach. We're having such a wonderful week weather wise, that we took it to the water. We had so much fun playing, playing, playing. It was one of those magical, happy times.

moose in the trees

This card uses a technique with a brayer that was inspired by Andrea Walford's tutorial here
http://andreawalford.com/?p=627

The ink faded quite a bit after it dried. I'm not sure if I used glossy cardstock or glossy photo paper. Instead of more mustard, I used so saffron. The mustard was too dark for me, although, it is vibrant on Andrea's blog. Must be the paper.

I'll be trying this again with winter colours. Why the moose? It is for a friend of my dad's who used to go moose hunting with him.

Can you hear me sniffling? We all have nasty nose colds right now. Well, the kids are mostly better, I'm dripping like a leaky faucet. Now my nose is all red from the poor quality tissues we have. Word of advice: Always have a box of tissue with lotion for those recurring nose wiping sessions.

yaarrrrgh

I got to stamp almost the whole evening!!! Couldn't tell you the last time that happened. Thanks DH. :}
I got 2 cards done, but could have had more if I could find my shtuff!! Still not cleaned up from my almost table swap I wrote of in another post.
This pirate stamp is from Stamping Bella, treasure map from Stampin' Up! and also the cheesecloth background on the baja breeze card base. I have a sentiment stamp, "yarrgh", from Stamping Bella, but can't find it.

Even though it's not done, this was fun to make and I'm glad I finally got it out of my head. It's been there for awhile:}

Pumped???

I don't think there is any danger of my father in law reading my blog and seeing his card, so you get to see it first.

He sells and fixes pumps for a living, so I wanted to take some pump pictures at the pioneer village we went to in Portugal. Knew they would come in handy. lol

DP is Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding and the screw snaps are form Making Memories. Nestabilities and Quickutz on the inside. The sentiments are from different sets form Papertrey. Not much stamping, but it is what I wanted.

another grillafella

Here's another card like another card I did. Haven't been stamping much lately. Ideas in my head, but the kids have been going to bed far too late for me to have energy to play afterwards. As the sun goes to bed earlier throughout the summer, so will they, I hope.
Have a great weekend. Off to do some yard sale-ing. Is that a word??

Grillafella apron

We still have a squirrel, not that we've seen him. Just signs of him in the house!

Here is a card I did for a pool party we went to yesterday.
The idea for the apron comes from my DH's cousin and fellow paper crazed crafter, Anabela.. You can see here sample here.
http://creationsbybela.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-06-11T07%3A06%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=10
Now that I look at her cards, Seems they must be a little bigger to get all the stuff on?

Grillafella from Stamping Bella. Oval from nestabilities. Thanks from Quickutz and the sewing stitch on the border is from sassafrass lass. I love that it is acrylic and you can shape it to the paper. I got the shape of the apron from putting part of an oval die and tracing it. Ribbon is from Stampin' Up.

Don't know if you can see it written on the BBQ, but it says. "your old Weber". I think it was around Christmas time, my DH had a great deal on some GPS systems. So he traded one for a Weber BBQ with a guy at work. We got the rotisserie from him yesterday. Guess we'll be eating roast chicken this week, or Frango assado in Portuguese. YUMM. Who wants some?
