a card! a card!!

THUD!!!
That's how I feel today. i got a yucky head cold. I could feel it invade my head as I sang in church yesterday. My voice was bang on. it's a phenomenon singers enjoy for the few nano seconds it lasts. The sound you produce is resonating beautifully in the little sinus space you have left before WHAM! the cold strikes. Anyhow, you would not want to see me right now. or hear me, or witness the sneezing, runny nose, hacking... you get the drift.
But hey!! I got to stamp!

My cousin in law is having a baby shower in her honour this weekend. Since I don't get prezzies for the baby until it is born, I came up with a solution not to come empty handed... thank you notes for the shower gifts. I did this previously and it was a hit. So here is another try. Still thinking about this one. I may have some baby things that will fit in the circle. Will play more later....

baby giraffe

here is a card I'm making for my friend who just had a little boy.

I decided I wasn't going to use my cuttlebug machine or any dies for this mass produced card. 20 of them. instead, my design grew into colouring 20 giraffes with pencils and odorless mineral spirits and threading 40 buttons. What happened to simple eh? I used my Marvy scallop oval punch and some SU DP. The little blue dots around the oval is a flower centre from one of the Papertrey stamp sets. can't remember which one at present. Have to look thru my friend's case of prisma pencils to see if there is a more vibrant one. This koh-i-noor one looks a little dull to me.

Baby shower thank you kit

I attended a baby shower yesterday and made this for the mother in waiting.

the tin case is from Lee Valley. the 53mm watchmakerm tins came in it. i have a few of these on hand from all my previous watchmake tintreasures. SO glad it all fit nicely.

The top is done with Stampin' Up! paper and nestabilities label 1 die. image is from the baby set at Joann's.

See how nicely the cards, envies and stamps fit in? the book on the right is the guest/gift book.

Here is the inside of the book. I did the template for it last spring and had to tweek it a little to remember how to print on both sides. Pain, but hopefully I'll remember for next time. Should write the specs down.

And lastly, here's the tag that came on the gift. simple.

Have a look at the stamp sets for sale below.

Baby clothesline

Don't you just love it when DH comes in the stamping den and makes a quick, quite useful comment to make your mass production quicker?
Such a thing happened with this card. DH is good for these one liners.
I showed him my card in it's development stage. He says, "hey, wouldn't it be cool if you could put all those stamps on one sheet of acrylic?" And I say, "what, like this one?"
Thus, this card became a 3 step stamping card instead of 5.

THe most time consuming of this card was gluing the little green clothes pegs on the line. I had to switch glue to a faster drying one. Who wants to sit around holding down a little piece of paper. "Not I!" said the sheep.

Clothes are from the baby acrylic stamps I got at Joann's. The pole is from Papertrey Ink's Green Thumb and the grass is from Stampin' Up! Pocket Silhouettes.

Hope you like. I made 24 for a shower. Gonna make a kit with the postage stamps, little book to keep track of presents and who gave them and some mailing labels.

Thanks for Looking,
Amanda

another thank you

Howdy!
I've been making a few things here and there, but I'm too lazy to take pics. I have a bunch of stuff I want to sell on Craigslist, too lazy! I mean, come on.. the opportunity to make money and I'm too lazy. Some stamp sets to sell on here and ebay. too lazy. I should probably stop falling asleep with the kids and waking up at 2 am with my 6 hours of sleep.
Anyhow,
here is a batch of thank you cards I made for my neighbour. Simple and no layers. The ink is chalk inks. I love the vibrancy of them.

We went on a leaf hunt expedition today. The sumach trees are on fire! the kids had a great time. I snapped a few photos, but love the angle of this one. i know that the light on her face is a little harsh, but the makeup of it calls to me. I think it's all the texture and business of the leaves and then the smooth solid colour of her coat. And the little blob of colour in her dollie that she is holding.

So, may be I'll get my butt in gear to take some photos....

c'est fini

After making 42 of these.....(I forgot to take a picture of the final product)

I wanted to be a little simpler for 21 of these...
href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAsNqD4Fg0TSOhYQ06y4q-FeQunZL4Yp1eaBgrY4dL7mF0Sz6_S3f9zBAHdwlU0DjCM5avH_fh6Tg43tYUdSiPNDqsbFXrHpGSy6mqauDuQIFeaj1_qw_m1TMV9ZRLdMtPayU79nSptrw/s1600-h/baby+thank+you+elephant.jpg">

Man, anyone else find it hard to make a card without using the cuttlebug? Even a simple card needs to be grinded through that machine. If I didn't put it thru the embossing folder, I would have wanted to use the nestabilites or Quickutz dies. Geesh. Tiny mosaic folder and heat embossing on the elephant circle which come from the set of all my other baby stuff. Wish I remembered the name before I threw the package out. Then I could call it was it is instead of that set I bought at Joann's. ANyone know it?

And now for something completely different, my son is a fish!

He has only been in a big pool 3 times this summer. With his water wings on, he is very confident. Now he's jumping in the pool by himeslf. SO much so, that I had to tell him to take a rest to catch his breath in between jumping. We're going to Nova Scotia next week for 2 weeks where there are 2 pools. SO I'm sure he'll be quite wrinkled by the time we get back.lol
Don'cha love summer and the things kids can do??
