Waldorf Inspired Summer Swap!!!

Remember when I made 15 of these
for a spring swap?No? It was back in May.

So on Saturday, I finally received my swap items! (Canada post strike/lockout tribulations) And what fun it was!!

After supper, I handed the kids one thing at a time to unwrap. it was like Christmas.

A few things got jumbled in the box, so I looked up this One Hook Wonderpost to see what was what.

We had fun admiring the treasures and setting them all up. But sometimes, the bubble wrap is too tempting!

In a heat wave here. DH put in the air conditioner in my attic sewing room. I think I want to live up there. We will find excuses to hang out there during the day. If we ever stay home long enough. Not complaining, but I want to have a day of not watching the clock. It's summer for goodness sakes!

roving butterfly bird mobile

G'day!
I took my love for the roving birds and butterflies and made a mobile out of them.

I made them mini compared to the regular size and tried to stay within a colour scheme.

The wind was having fun blowing them in a circle.

And watching them from below gives the eye view of the baby it's meant to hang for.

I'm still working on how to tie the top.

Spring Swap

I just finished and snail mailed my things for my first swap!


Roving butterflies.

I usually put them on a stick, but in the interest of postage, I opted not to include it in the swap.



And how interesting are the rules for Canada Post.. let me indulge if I may...
I put them all in a compact box. It would cost about $9 and take 4-6 weeks for it to get to the United States! Yikes, i need them there next week. So the next price option for a few weeks would cost $2o. ??huh? But, if I put it in several envelopes, it goes as letter post and can get there in a week. get this.. for $2.86. Yep. Under 100 g in a letter sized envelope...$ 2.86. The nice post mistress helped me figure it all out, gave me envelopes, helped stuff and address envelopes and even wrote out some custom forms. Nice. The most important point, it will get there faster. Like I'm hoping next week kinda fast to make the deadline.

There's 15 of them in there. And you know the best part of a swap, I'll get 15 things back! hurrah!
Some Spring flowers from my friend's garden. They even smell good. A little token of the 4th anniversary of my 39th. tee hee.

roving butterflies

I got this idea for these butterflies after looking at this tutorial for roving birds
here on Mothering with Rhythm and Rhyme



Mostly got the idea b/c I called them butterflies. When I went to make them, noticed they were indeed birds. The kids didn't want birds, they wanted butterflies. So they made suggestions on how to turn a bird into a butterfly, add some wings and antenna. so that we did.

I needle felted the stripe and the shape of the wings.

They move so nicely in the wind.
