Butterfly flutterby

So, this little idea grew into a 3D project. i love it. i wish I didn't have to give it away.

The chipboard shape is from Michael's, as is the DP on it. They come separately, but fit together. Glued it on, sanded it and did the edges with SU basic grey. kinda dark isn't it. I think i would like to get a lighter grey ink pad.

All the pieces on the green side is from the Amy Butler pack, also from Michael's. Love that set. can't wait to try something with the sewing elements in it. may have to break out the sewing machine. I just added a few bling centers to the flowers.

On the blue side, I coloured my favoured tulips. Luckily, there was some paper that went perfectly with it. The fence came from a card making kit my thoughtful aunt sent to me last year. butterfly charm- dollar store. The pin is from the 2nd hand sale. A whole bunch of them. See, I didn't hoard. Ribbon-SU. I think the corner bracket is from Basic Grey? and the dangly bling is from a yard sale. i think it came from a chandeliere. (I know I didn't spell that one right.) Perfect card is from Amy Butler. I beaded an earring hoop to hang it from. Oh yes, I stamped a few of my SU backgrounder stamps on the blue paper.

Different look for me, but i love it.

Father's Day card

Howdy, Howdy, howdy!
This is the father's day card I made for DH this year. If you're a regular reader here, you'll know that his life (outside of us) centres around Sailing albacores. Our summer holidays are centred around regattas across the eastern seaboard. This weekend, we are off to our annual visit to Ottawa for a sailing weekend.
This trip is special b/c one of my very good kindred spirits is there. We stay at her house. She introduced me to stamping 2 years ago.l thanks so much Chrissy for this passion in my life.

Ok, on with the card....

Stamps are from SU, retired woodcuts set. Stamped on kraft CS with brown Stazon., I couldn't find any of my 3 white pens, so I stamped the image again on White CS and cut out the lighthouse and the sail. Mounted it on Blue Bayou and kraft again. used some mid sized eyelets, some twine with a few knots. the words on the edges look kinda weird, as I cut out some of what was there and liked that it kinda made sense? lol
The brown card base has been cuttlebugged with tiny tiles(?) folder for half of the card, then I scored 3 lines on top of that.

i got some new goodies from Stamping bella and have played a little. Waiting for the kiddies to go to bed. Hopefully, I will stay up later than them tonight:}

Origami shirt

Here is another plain, I mean clean layout.
The origami shirt template can be found quite easily if you google it. So easy to make. The button brads are perfect for this. I've also seen the shirt with a little tie. Cute. The brown paper is from Corelations and is embossed with my cuttlebug folder and sanded to bring out the inside colour of the paper.
The "For You" sentiment is quickutz. Ribbon, Michael's from a few years ago and the brad is not a brad. It's a snap like thing that you need a cropadile for. I'm not overly fond of them as they don't have much depth. It didn't even really catch the ribbon that well. Let's hope glue will keep it there. Maybe a glue dot for extra measure.

I'm thinking Father's day for this one, but left it generic so my workshop attendees can put what they wish.

Dorothy's flower basket

Isn't this lovely?
One of the my regular workshop attendees made this with leftover pieces she had. It is luxurious textured paper.
It is so spring like and makes me smile.

Thanks Dorothy for the inspiration!

Sittin' on the fence

I was so productive yesterday. Thank goodness, as I could crank nothing out today. And there is so much for inspiration...
New magazine with pages folded down of ideas I want to try, a trip to Michael's and Stamping Bella!! Great goodies from there. I even have some stamps that are not out yet. Hot rubbah from the scissors. But no such luck getting anything out.

So here is a card from yesterday. I cased it from Jen Del Muro
http://iheart2stamp.com/2008/04/02/mft-release-day/ What a great idea. Thanks Jen.

I decided to try it with kraft paper. And I got to play with the only other big die cut set I have from Quickutz, revoluion. I don't have the package anymore, so sorry, once again, I don't know what it's called. But fun to play with. And can you tell I;min a bit of a funk? My intent was to create a nice, spring feeling card! huh? Bit dark no? I intend to make this card again with a white picket fence and some brighter colours. The sentiment inside is from Papertrey Ink,"Green Thumb" set. oh yes, the little snail is from SU set "Garden Whimsy"

I better get my nightly bowl of cereal and hit the hay before anyone wakes up.I'm in my stamp room up in the attic, the rain sounds nice on the roof.

Bootiful dresses and bathing suits and umbreallas oh my!

I had a great day today playing with other people's ideas. That lead to a few ideas of my own. I've been on the lookout for cards that are 3D. Here are is an example from Barb Schram at http://barbschram.blogspot.com The bodice of the dress uses the boot from Papertrey Ink's Green Thumb set. And the skirt uses the strawberry bottom. The hanger uses 2 stem pieces. Isn't it ingenious? It inspired me to make the bathing suit also. I was set out to make a onesie, but without sleeves,it looked more like a bathing suit.

I also played with my cookie cutter dies from QuickKutz. The largest scallop circle was the card base. Can you pick out a little embossing on it?? The embossed edge is really big right now with the use of Spellbinder's Nestabilities. I bought my cuttlebug so I could buy them, but haven't yet. But Surprise, surprise!! It happened (a little) with the cookie cutter. SU paper doubled is thick. Guess that's why it happened. bonus.

I've added the umbrella since last night. The handle is a gold,as this colour scheme is for a bridal shower. I need a new gold ink pad.
