Penguin party

In addition to the spring swap, I signed up for a bird swap! This time, instead of making 15, I just make 2 and send it directly to the recipients.
I hemmed and hawed about what to make, started things and changed my mind a million times. I finally decided to make these penguins from Wool Pets. (yes, I caved and bought the book as a bday treat)

Fun to make and quite the personalities.

They have a few secrets between them.

And I hope they can keep in touch as they travel separately around the world from one another.

In addition to the penguins, I made a little 4x6 pouch. It has vinyl in the front as a peek a boo case. The one I made for myself has a playground emergency kit. You know, band aids, wipes, elastics, needle thread, safety pins, hair elastics, mini spoons, mini pencil, and a few tea bags. I also make a larger one for kids treasures. I'm hoping to do my 1st tutorial with this pouch soon.

See how you can see the lining? The back is red denim. I love red denim. Must get more.

So there you go, some birdies will be boxed up and sent in the mail, if Canada Post doesn't go on strike on Tuesday. grrrr..

Make sure you come back tomorrow for the gigantic "Sew Mama Sew" giveaway here and in blog land. You won't want to miss my red and grey theme.

Cheers,
Amanda

oh Mr. Fox, where have you been?

I've been working on this guy for a few days.

I know, he looks like a mouse! But he's a fox. I hope I don't give him some identity crisis. We'll just have to see what his new owner thinks he is and I'll go with that.
Is he a bad fox/mouse?

I got to use buttons with this one. Makes the eye thing a whole lot easier. The movable arms and monogramed heart. I wish I could have had him a little longer.

Here's a look at how long his legs are and how tiny he is....

Too big to sit in the plant.

Sorry for the flash photos. It's a dull day and he had to go to a birthday party.

Mr. Fox/mouse is from the book, "Sew me, Love me"

Thanks for looking,
Amanda

hear the lion's roar... ahem

After putting my lion in a bag for a week, I finally finished him. Sometimes, I just get stuck. It was 3 days before I tried the arms. When i did it was so easy. then another 5 days to try the eyes. I didn't want to use buttons, so the shape of the eye, should I use a different colour, felt, embroider??
I was due to meet the owner today, so I HAD to do it. At 11pm last night.

I'm ok with it. I added subtle eyebrows and a nose. Here's another look at the tail...

his arms move so he can ask for a hug.. ahh...

he's quite at home in the jungle...

And likes to pose for modeling gigs. What a charmer. I put a felt heart on him. I think this will be my signature. I did it
here for Bella's friend, Lily.

The pattern comes from the book "Sew me, Love me"

Thanks for looking, Off to finish my BIG turtle!

brave little lion

Remember this??

here's a work in progress...

He needs eyes.. I can't figure what to do with the eyes.... I don't want to use buttons as it's for a little boy. Maybe some felt circles with an X? just embroider some? have to play around a bit, but my mind is stuck.

It's also stuck on how to sew the arms on. I have to read the front of the book again (Sew Me, Love Me) and get a doll needle.

look at the little tail. I love the knot on top.

So there you have it.. a work in progress..
thanks for looking,
Amanda

a friend for Bella

I finished Lily last night. It's so fun to see them get a little personality when you embellish them...

So with her scarf and little rosette in her ear, she went on a luncheon date with Bella.

They enjoyed a little walk at the and and fed the ducks.

And went home for a little sleepover...

You can see Bella's page here

They will be separated soon as Lily goes to live with another little girl.

Now I must go think of lions for an order. An Orange lion...
