Father's Day card

Howdy, Howdy, howdy!
This is the father's day card I made for DH this year. If you're a regular reader here, you'll know that his life (outside of us) centres around Sailing albacores. Our summer holidays are centred around regattas across the eastern seaboard. This weekend, we are off to our annual visit to Ottawa for a sailing weekend.
This trip is special b/c one of my very good kindred spirits is there. We stay at her house. She introduced me to stamping 2 years ago.l thanks so much Chrissy for this passion in my life.

Ok, on with the card....

Stamps are from SU, retired woodcuts set. Stamped on kraft CS with brown Stazon., I couldn't find any of my 3 white pens, so I stamped the image again on White CS and cut out the lighthouse and the sail. Mounted it on Blue Bayou and kraft again. used some mid sized eyelets, some twine with a few knots. the words on the edges look kinda weird, as I cut out some of what was there and liked that it kinda made sense? lol
The brown card base has been cuttlebugged with tiny tiles(?) folder for half of the card, then I scored 3 lines on top of that.

i got some new goodies from Stamping bella and have played a little. Waiting for the kiddies to go to bed. Hopefully, I will stay up later than them tonight:}

hoot hoot

I finally broke down and got on the owl train ride. I don't really get it. yes, they are cute, but a little over done now. Still, I did like the bold image by Maya Road. no colouring, I have puffy embossing powder to try on it. And I had a gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket. (thanks Sarah and Raylene) maybe a grad hat on top? Just have to get organized.

Another eraser for a teacher's gift. Found some brown EP. It's the scented kind. Chocolate. Yummmm. Distressed it a little with chaulk ink and a bit-o-ribbon. Voila.

How bout another card. I left you so long since the last posting...

Another case from Lindsay at
http://lcsstamp.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/05/more-cards.html

I made these for a swap of fellow demonstrators in my Canadian's Ink group. Headed by the ever lovely Caroline, http://www.craftincaro.ca/

It's using square and circle punches. tag punch for the pocket, bit of wide grosgrain for the hankies. I didn't have any buttons or a punch for the buttons, so I traced a sponge finger dauber, cut it by hand, then put the bottom of it in ink to make the outline of the button. a little larger than I was looking for, but 'tis done. Inside is a rub on from eons ago. My desk is such a mess, I misplaced my Father's day stamp!!

Great for Father's Day or a male birthday.

1st card I ever made

And the 1st stamp set I ever owned! Loads of Love from Stampin' UP!.
This coming Father's day marks the 2 year anniversary of my introduction to stamping.

It is an annual visit to Ottawa for a sailing regatta. This time, I brought some pics to scrapbook with the help of a good friend, Chrissy. When I asked her to help, she did and then told me she was more into stamping now. When she introduced me to it, I was is love. i don't know if I breathed. i was so excited inside to do it. I was 8 months pregnant and 1 week before starting maternity leave early due to work stress. That weekend was the 1st time I felt relaxed in 8 months! It was so free and lovely to create.

Being pregnant, I didn't know how much time I would get to actually stamp when Neve was born. rafael was such a difficult baby, I imagined my time being stuck on my butt nursing. lol But she is her own, and she was a good baby. I had time to create and I wasn't so stressed out. Maybe it was being a mom for the 2nd time.

Anyhow, I ordered the Loads of Love set, white ink and 12x12 earth elements and off I went. As you can see, I used it a bit in the beginning. I still love to colour that set with chaulks and am looking forward to seeing what I'll make this year for Father's Day cards with it.

Sorry for the poor quality of photos. It was before my intro to the world of blogging and I was only taking pics to keep as an idea file.

Oh yes, I did get to shop tonight and picked up a few things at Joann's. They had great sales, but Michael's didn't have any. I did get Martha Stewart's butterfly punch though. Looking forward to using that one.

Origami shirt

Here is another plain, I mean clean layout.
The origami shirt template can be found quite easily if you google it. So easy to make. The button brads are perfect for this. I've also seen the shirt with a little tie. Cute. The brown paper is from Corelations and is embossed with my cuttlebug folder and sanded to bring out the inside colour of the paper.
The "For You" sentiment is quickutz. Ribbon, Michael's from a few years ago and the brad is not a brad. It's a snap like thing that you need a cropadile for. I'm not overly fond of them as they don't have much depth. It didn't even really catch the ribbon that well. Let's hope glue will keep it there. Maybe a glue dot for extra measure.

I'm thinking Father's day for this one, but left it generic so my workshop attendees can put what they wish.

a little off season

Ok, so it's not Father's Day. but this is a card I haven't shared with you. I haven't stamped in a few days after a very fun workshop. And last night, I went at bed at 8:30, slept uninterrupted until 12:30! 4 whole hours! wow. now it's 2:30 am and I'm here writing this. yep, messed up. lol

I made this card while visiting a friend in Ottawa. I used her set, so I don't know what it's called. I think it's still in the catalogue. Colour inspiration came from the ribbon.
And holy, what a lot of typos I just corrected. I better head back to bed.:}
