Neve is a Lulu

I bought this stamp from Stamping Bella a few lifetimes ago, thinking of Neve when she got older.

When I saw this picture on the camera, it flashed to my mind.

There were frogs in the pool and she was looking at them from afar. I asked her if she was a princess, she said , "no, I just wanted to hold the rail that way"

Driving home today. It took 8 hours for a 5 hour drive to get here due to a 2 hour detour. Hubby will be driving back with us this time, so I'll have some sewing time. yeah. Want to finish my block to show you. The Owl does have a little personality now and a fish is waiting to be created....

Fortunately, this is at my sister in law's and even better, we're here. Well, I'm inside. Tomorrow, I shall be setting up crafter's corner in the basement. so nice and cool down there.

felt block

I have a new/old project to take to the playground/wade pool/splashpad. The felt block as seen
here
Only this time, I'm using wool blend felt and will stuff it with sheep wool. Better quality.

Interesting to see how I made the items this time. i didn't have my pictures to look at as a guide. A few variances from the original. A lot. Loving this tree though.

Shadowy pictures on a bright sunset. I still need to put some dots on this mushroom.

And Mr. Owl is going to get some personality.

The pink background on this sun is very hot pink. can't capture it here.

And the sun in the sky is very hot here too. We are in day 2 of a 4 day heat wave. Yucky! We met our friends at the splash pad. The local news truck came up and took footage and interviewed my son. He was on the 6 o'clock news. Then we spent 2.5 hours at the hospital for Neve's finger appointment. All is well. At least it was air conditioned. And we ate. I tend not to eat well when I'm hot. I usually go to an air conditioned restaurant to get my body temp adjusted and then eat. 3 of these sides are hospital sides! lol

Yard sale loot!

Top o the mornin' to ya!

We scored big at one yard sale on the weekend. SO much so, that everyone wanted to go home after this stop. Here's a little of what we got...
A mini trampoline! for $5. yep. We wanted a trampoline, but just don't have a yard big enough. this fits the bill for now to wear off some energy. Good cardio for mama too.

This kitchen for $5. yes, you read that right. It came loaded with dishes of every sort. The kids keep arranging it and making things. I'm so full.

This awesome cash register... my son has one in his classroom at school. And it has Canadian play currency in it! it has a calculator in it and beeps when you put a card in it. very realistic.

What else? An easy bake oven, came with the kitchen, hockey stick, talking microscope that gives facts of things you're looking at. My kids will be smarter than me by grade 2. binoculars. All that for about another 5 bucks.

We had some quiet time at home cleaning our new loot that afternoon before we headed out to the beach.

gnome diorama

great day at the beach here! I smell like burned flesh. I sat under the umbrella, but had to walk from the car park. The very far away car park. The beach was a popular place today. More tomorrow perhaps.

Here is a diorama that DS made from a Q-Tip box. I love his mushrooms and trees.

So we moved a few guys in.

And for a few home decor items, I made a pink needle felted mushroom. The crochet flower is actually a necklace. On 3 different colour strands of crochet chain. I couldn't get my finicky model to wear it. Another time.

Have a great day!

little green elf

Hi ho,
We're taking it easy this morning after a late night watching Canada day fireworks. We had friends over at the sailing club. The kids had a great time. After they went home, we sat on the dock and watched fireworks from the city to the east and fireworks from another club to the west. Was lovely indeed.

Here is my work in progress..

he's from my new book Wool Toys and Friends

Here's a little tip:
If you're going to make a needle felted softie, don't use a hand painted braid of wool. When you wrap around and around, the variances of shades does not lend to blending very well. Yep, use a solid colour. I need to work on getting the little belly and chunky legs on top. Maybe there's something deep inside of me that's trying so hard to not make another belly and chunky thighs. I'm trying to get rid of my own.!!:}

I like his bendy limbs, but need to work on the shape of his hat. it's too gnomey.
Doesn't he look darling?

Tomorrow,
crayon rubbings from the yard game

pack up your troubles in your old kit bag....

and smile, smile, smile. A song we're singing on Canada day for Veteran's show. Should be fun.
Anyhow, I digress....
Here is a pic of the kit bag mentioned in the post below. I kinda lost steam when I realized the binding was not sewn in some places. I sewed the narrow side of it to the inside of the bag instead of outside. I know I'm going to have a problem when I turn it over and sew the rest on. So I'm taking a break from it.

I like it. Because I used denim, (which is light on the inside) I made a flap for the ends of the bag. It extends the pocket a bit. I'm going to experiment with the size of it to fit in some diapers and a wipe case. And I'm sure the kids would love one for treasures. Just needs a handle on it. yep, a few uses for these. this one is 7 inches wide instead of 9 as she suggested. Simply, I had 7 inch zippers.

A little space rocket ship landed in front of our house this morning. (At 7:30 am, the earth shook, the construction crew was breaking the earth in half. Welcome to summer). I bought the rocket ship finger puppet at a yard sale and painted a wooden peg. I saw it on some one else's site. if you've seen it to give credit, please let me know. He fits perfectly inside. maybe another project to make the ships. Need more boy toys.

And a tip on how to take pictures in peace...

Give them their own cameras.

I have a few more projects in my camera, so I should be a little more regular in posting this week.

thanks for looking,
off to enjoy the 1st day of summer vacation..

WIP

Hi Ho,
just working on a few teach gifts, nothing you haven't seen before.

But here is a new thing I'm working on. No pics from me, it's late... and it's not looking pretty in the binding department.

DIY Father's Day Gift from Not Martha

And I bought the book "Wool Toys and Friends". in the middle of making the little elf. it's fun with bendy arms and legs.

Only one more day of school left. yeah. the kids are so tired from staying up too late and rushing out the door in the morning. I let them sleep as long as they want, but we still have to get out at a certain time. so Wednesday will be nice....

Come back for some pics soon...

star wand

I had a request from a repeat customer! Thanks M. I was joking that I was her personal etsy shop. that's her hand BTW. Now you're famous. :}

So at 5:30 this morning (cause my sleep schedule is so messed up. WHen you go to bed at 8:30, 2:30am is 6 hours later and then last night, 10 pm and 5:30 am wake up time.) I made this wand. It pretty much was what was in my head. I decided not to trim them to make it equal as I liked the dual colours.

Apologies for the poor photo quality. It's the little digital instead of the nice big one I've grown to love.

I just felt an earthquake. did you feel it where you are? They said it was felt from Buffalo to Ottawa. Have to find out where there centre was. Interesting..... Last time i felt an earthquake, I was in Nova Scotia and the quake was in Montreal area. Big area.

flowers and labels

Howdy,
another brilliantly bright, hot day here. Perfect weather for summer solstice. How 'bout you?

Here's a pic of my flower wands to go with or without the pompom skirt. Together, it makes a nice bday present. (bright picture, it is sunny)

And I finally got a stamp with "By Hook & Thread" on it. I ordered it from Caroline at
Stampin' Up! ( Canadian orders only. Find a representative from your country to purchase from Stampin' Up! They have a demonstrator locator on their site. Even break it down locally)

It's the Princess or Pirate stamp towards the back of the catalogue. I can't remember which one. For now, I'm stamping it on ribbon and sewing it in to my projects. (When I remember) I also have a logo drawn up by a friend. Just have to tell her which one I like and let her do a good copy. Fun stuff.

And how do you like them polka dots? Yummy on the pom pom skirts....

Then Fun fair was a success. My table was a success. Although, I wasn't there much to sell stuff. thanks to good friends for taking over when I went running around in my official capacity. A nice bunch interested in my things and possible venues for future sales.

My feet hurt. lol but in a good kinda way.
