Eco-Family Holiday Sale is almost here!

This time of year is all about getting together, enjoying each others company and yes, even a bit of gift giving. Little Footprints is hoping to make your gift giving easier and greener this year by co-hosting The Eco Family Holiday Sale with our friends Toronto e-tailers Kai Kids.

Little Footprints, as you already know, is Canada's online eco toy store dedicated to fun and games for kids of all ages; Kai Kids specializes in ethically-made and earth-friendly clothing and accessories for babies to preschoolers and pregnant and nursing moms. Together they will be offering an opportunity to browse and shop a unique selection of sustainable, non-toxic and planet-friendly products for everyone in the family. There will be lots of special sales, toys for the kids to try out, and Amanda Pedro of Musica Music school will be on hand from 10:30 to 2:30 every hour on the half hour to keep the kids entertained while you shop!

microscope slide ornaments all in a row

I had a big blitz of making these ornaments the other day. The ideas and combinations are endless, I could happily spend another week making different designs.
here they are all in a row:


Here are some from the music collection


And one for ballet


And another from the see through collection. These are a little tricky, as you need to consider the hook on the back. I make the swirl of the hook part of the ornament. I use crystal effect from Stampin' Up! to adhere the hooks.


The shapes are die cuts from Quickutz and Cuttlebug. and the music notes from a mini punch set from the Philippines. I need to add some ribbon to the hooks to finish them off.

The colours are a shade off in the 1st few photos. Playing around with my settings too much. And notice the background blurry in the HO Ho Ho one? New camera! Heee heeeeeeee!

no crafty pictures today, just this


yeah, I know, how cool is that? DH brought it home from the supermarket. Don't know the name, do you?

It tastes sooo yummy, lovely texture, not too strong like broccoli or cauliflower, but buttery like sweet corn.


hoping for some crafting tomorrow... right now, I'm gonna dive into Bridget jones: edge of reason. the movie.

gel pen wallet

so, um, like, I decided to do some wallets for older kids. Since crayolas wouldn't cut it, I decided on gel pens. And some artist canvass so that they can decorate their own.


this one is for my niece, who is quite artistic. I can't wait to see what she does with it.


It is an inch smaller in width than the crayon wallet and I turned the pockets around with a smaller flap for the closure.


I have one to doodle on myself, the prototype, You know, the one where you decided to try something different and it didn't quite work out? But it's good for experimenting.

And look what we were greeted with this morning....

The kids asked why I gave the squirrel an O Henry bar. I said they were nuts to think I would give a chocolate bar away, and to a squirrel! I know he didn't get it from this house! I ate them all.t

We get all kinds of critters taking rest around here. Well, city critters. My sister just moved to a more woodsy area and looked out the window, thinking her neighbours put up their Christmas decorations a little early. It was a real deer, eating the grass!

felt food

Since I like working with felt and I like my husband's cooking, it is no coincidence that the two should meet.

Here is a pasta dinner, Ravioli and bowtie pasta with a bit of tomato sauce. I only had a little "whole wheat" pasta in my cupboard today. it will be added to my shopping list for next time.


And here is a hastily made sandwich.
Ham and cheese (I know, wrong colour cheese for holey swiss)



some tomatoes and cukes (again, hastily made)


and a few leaves of lettuce.


Put it altogether, a sandwich. I need to work on the bread. I have an idea how, just didn't have the time.


And now I'm full of pasta, cucumber, tomato soup and nice bad for you, white bread.

hhmmmm, dessert. I think I need to make some cookies or muffins! yes, muffins.

sewing card

I bought this sewing stamp set at a 2nd hand sale recently, but there was no label as to what company it is.



Yep, this is what happens when you haven't made a card in some time and want to incorporate the fabric scraps lying on your floor. What can I say?? not much.
I also made a pink and brown boa scarf. This time, I made it only 3 inches wide and only 3 layers. I wanted it to be a little more fluffed out, so I rearranged the layers after I sewed them the first time and then re-sewed it with a wide zigzag stitch to hold it down in another direction. I know, not making a lot of sense. But it did what I wanted it to do, kinda. I have to shake it a bit. Maybe I should print a "how to" card with the gift? lol,



Going crazy making crayon wallets and hairclips. My aim is to make 4 wallets a night. So far, so good. 2 nights down, 18 more to go before the Christmas Bazaar. No, I'm not aiming to make 72, only 50! There are some other things I want to sell also.

fabulous find!!

We took a dart into the value Village on the way to the bank today. I just had this pull to go in. And this is what i found!

Hung and lost in the curtain section. The felt pieces drew my attention 1st. When I pulled it out, I couldn't believe it! the kids liked it, it didn't smell, it has perfect stitching and will go perfectly in their bedroom.

I assume it is hand sewn, look at the stitches on the ladybug's legs. Same for the bird legs.

I'm thinking it is a bit dated, but much appreciated in it's new home. I wish I knew the history behind it. Someone was very patient, talented and had some time.

Halloween bunting

A few weeks ago, Elizabeth at My Crafty Mess , hosted a giveaway for a Halloween bunting. Since we have just stated our bunting collection
celebration banner
and kid's foamie banners
I had to comment. And I won!

The bunting arrived in the mail today. There were a few ooohs and aahhhhs from the kids and I hung it over the window. Yes, we will have some autumnal colours here a while longer.

felt hair clips

I LOVE felt!!!! I can't do what's in my brain fast enough! I LOVE it!

Kinda looks like she has a mustache. I'll have to ask her. I do know that she was pretty consistent in putting warts on all the noses, much to the unhappiness of her brother. I had to make new noses.

Here is a teeny one i made for my nephew's 1st halloween. Too cute. I made a few more with felt for the kids and glued it on cardstock. They can wear them as pins. I don't have a picture at present, They are being treasured at the end of their beds.


Many halloween parties to attend tomorrow between 9 and 1. Hope I can keep up. I'm sure they will be well sugared!
