Craft Bazaar

Howdy!
What a busy week! My kids had their piano recital. Can I tell you how cute 3-5 year olds playing the piano are??! yes, my 3 and 5 year old take piano. It is a wonderful group, keyboard based program called
Music for Young Children . it is canadian, but is all over the world. it turns 30 next year. I can't say enough how wonderful and child based it is. Look it up if you're thinking of a piano based program for your children....

Anyhow, you didn't come here to hear me gush about that. Another night out was the craft bazaar.
Here are some shots of my table :

I have to say, I've never made such quantities of things before. I still have a fair bit left over, but I have other opportunities to sell them. And they are done! I don't have to dread going to my room every night! :}
Now I can start some new projects I have swimming in my mind.

GOOP

Ok, so our full house is not so full anymore. We had 6 extra people here for a bit. It was great fun. It's always so nice when you find like minded parents and kids that get on well together. especially when you've met them for the first time!

So here is a great outside (or inside) activity. We did this when I looked after 2 extra kids for the day. 6 Silly kids playing in the yard. It was the perfect day with everyone sitting on blankets for a picnic lunch and much playing in the yard. Yeah summer!

ok, on to the goop....

I'm not sure of the correct ratio, but you take corn starch and add coloured water to it and mix. It is so cool. If you move it around, it's wet, you can pick it up, roll it into a ball, but when you stop, it falls into a wet mush. Really try it! And it washes off with only water. you don't even have to scrub. It was one of the 1st messy things I allowed my children to do at home.

here are a few tips:
Mix food colouring or paint into the water and pour it into the cornstarch.
Mix the coloured water with a utensil. If you mix it with your hands at this stage, you may get coloured hands.
Find things to put in the goop. We used the things from our frozen treasures of last year. Anything plastic, little things from kindereggs, keys, marbles, money, beads, decorative rocks from floral vases, foamie animals, plastic dinos, fish, you name it. It is all fun to bury and find. We also use strainers, tea balls, spoons, scoops. use your imagination. There was a goop covered pompom in the grass for a bit. it always took me off guard when I saw it, trying to figure out what it was....

Hoping to get back to some kind of creating routine. Got a coffee shop down the street that wants to sell my cup sleeves exclusively. Yeah!! Gotta make some of those. Gotta gotta finish the beach bag!!!!!!!! Off for a sailing regatta next week, then when school gets out, off to Portugal for 2 weeks!!!!!! We are so excited. I'll blog about it like I did last year.

busy busy. Hope you have nice weather to enjoy also!

clay animals

Howdy!!
As I mentioned before, I've broadened my blurfing to blogs other than papercrafts and was excited to find my way to 4 Crazy Kings. She has awesome activities to do with the kids and I've done a few.

I found a stash of clay in my room. I had bought it from Dollarama a while back and thought it might work for this project.
I cased the whole thing... you can find the original here

The clay was a little more challenging to work with than the model magic. I'm going to look for some to try more things. When the clay did dry, it was brittle. Poor Neve's lion met it's demise as it fell to the floor. Shattered.

I love the colourful Fish that Rafael made. We did a plate background by watering down the paint and blowing it with a straw. they had fun with that one.

Neve's fish was looking colourful until her colours started to run into one another. The joys of no boundaries! I like her plate splat also.

Rafael's lion....

And my favorite is the owl. He painted the branch, then the backgrounds. it is night with a purple moon and the stars.

I highly recommend this activity. I would love to say that it took a long time, but it didn't. We did it in 2 sessions. Make animals and plate backgrounds in one and then painting them in the 2nd after they dried. Sometimes, I think it takes me longer to prepare the activity than it takes them to complete it. Thankfully, they like to paint. They were happy painting extra plates!
