Autumn leaves

Here is the other layout I did on Friday night:

Leaf border around picture is felt sticky back ribbon. The autumn leaves title is chipboard from Joann's last year. It was done with versa mark and puffy embossing powder. The paper is Scenic route. the tress were already on it. I punched the leaves from various mini punches. Harvest moon vellum paper on the bottom is from my stash. Probably a few years old.

Bonita!

What a great night last night!

Went to a crop at my LSS, Scrapbooks by Design. Group of friends went. We all put out our wares of Quickutz, Nestabilities and Cuttlebug supplies and then created.

I felt so productive. I went with 2 layouts in mind and practically finished the 1st one in an hour, but then went to Starbucks for a tea run. Man, time sucker! Anyhow, here's one of my layouts:

The picture is of my daughter on Halloween. My friend brought this flamenco dress back from Spain this summer. And there are shoes to match!! Love them
I was so excited to find the background paper. The white swirls sold me on it. I had spent the previous night covering and sanding the chipboard swirls. that helped a lot in terms of time.

The title is Quickutz (sorry, don't know which one), the flower is the actual flower that was in her hair that I made of scrapbook supplies on hand. Then added a few jewels for the dot of the i and on the side of the B.

Oh yes, inspiration for this layout came from Christine Drumheller at

no visuals

Howdy,

I'm having some trouble with my camera and computer relations.. they are not talking to one another right now. My DH is away tonight, so I can't just fix the problem by using his computer and handing him mine to look at. So I'll tell ya what I've been up to.

I've been thinking scrapbooking lately. Big pages, glitter, swirls, big pieces of chipboard shapes, stick on letters. You name it, I've been dreaming it. This is big to me, as I have always felt overwhelmed by the thoughts of putting a page together. i think I can do it now, as I have been gathering the larger items for scrapping over the last year.

I'm going to a crop tomorrow night. So looking forward to it. I have 2 layouts planned and spent 2 hours covering and sanding 3 swirly chipboard shapes. Can I just tell you that I'd much prefer to cover it with glitter!!! That sanding is the pits. What a mess. And slow. Thank goodness I have that set of files of various shapes and sizes. It does help a lot. but my Gawd! time consuming. And I don't have the heart to distress the edges with ink. Forgedaboutit.

If all goes well, I'll have something to show you on late, late Friday or Saturday.

Oh, I've also made my 1st attempt at soldering. DH has all the materials. I just bought the copper and glass a few months ago. It is fun. Going to get a proper glass cutter from the stain glass gallery and then I'm set to go. Stay tuned.

We've been enjoying the awesome warm weather here lately. t-shirt at times. Lovely. We'll take it while we can.

I did it!!

Yeah! I finally scrapped a page!! I've been wanting to like forever. I've been taking pictures with the intent to do it. I've been collecting scrapping stuff. And tonight... I did it!!
This layout is from Jennifer Akirk's blog. I discovered it while blurffing. I would go back everyday to see it, but realized that it she had stopped blogging in March!. But I love so many of her layouts. Here's the one in February.

The paper on the right side is SU. It was a little too white for the American Craft dotted paper, so i used creamy caramel chalk on it. Kinda hoping it matches one of the circles. And look!! I used glitter!! Lots of it. My room is a mess. My clothes are a mess! I haven't looked at my face yet. And I'm still here!! THe swirl is from a 2nd hand sale. Don't know who it is by, but I have almost 4 whole sheets of circles and swirls. Yeah. I used the martha Stewart glitter on it. The letters are from the dollar store. Can you believe it? 1 buck! Even better as my LSS didn't have brown. I better go buy more, now that I'm into this scrapping thing. :}

Instead of putting my journalling on white paper, I printed it on acetate. Then used the 3 teeny, tiny brads in the corners.

I'm so happy I actually did it. It's not heavily embellished or a lot of photos, but I like it. I printed off a few more photos and am looking at layouts to make more. Just not getting anywhere with the card thang. Maybe this is the change I need. I'll welcome it. :}

nada

Hi ho.
did you have a great Halloween? It was a beautiful day here. We carved the pumpkin outside in t-shirts! Quite a change from the 0 degree today.

I just took some pictures of a few products I bought recently, but the camera is giving me grief in d/l them.
I'll try again tomorrow.

Here are some pics of my Trick or treater's .... I so need to make a book or scrap page. Who wants to throw some inspiration this way??!!!

See, this is crafting related. I made the flower in her hair. isn't it hilarious?! It's almost bigger than her head!

New bird house

A friend of mine is moving to a penthouse this weekend, so I made this card and it will actually go in the mail tomorrow. (along with my mom's bday card ahem)
The birdhouse image is from a dollar store in NS. The new home is from a buck stamp from Michael's and the orange bird is from the buck store and made of metal. There are also yellow and green birds in the pack that can go with kiwi kiss.

Hey, speaking of kiwi kiss, see how well it matches the background colour of the photo. It's my kitchen. You've seen it in my photos before. It's a perfect match for kiwi kiss. We painted it 6 years ago!! Are we ahead of our time or what? It was quite revolutionary when we first did it. We had the opportunity to repaint a few months ago, but I told my husband, "We can't change the colour now! It's a Stampin' Up IN COLOUR!" LOL

k, enough banter.. here's the card...

Can't really tell ya what effect I was going for or what layout I was trying to accomplish. Just wanted to use the paint chip DH brought home last month. Oh yes, the ribbon is a delish garter ribbon from Stamping Bella. I have to make another trip there soon. She always has the latest stuff that makes a grown woman squeal!

Hoping to get to play a bit tomorrow morning.

Happy Birthday Mom!!

It's my mom's bday today. I made this card 2 weeks ago. She doesn't have it yet. it's still sitting here in my pile. Bites when your family lives far away. I'm always late sending things, but have them before the time to be sent. LOSER i know.
Anyhow,
this card was cased from Renee at
http://reneevs.blogspot.com/2008/10/colour-sketch-challenge.html

I didn't have the set she used, so I used Papertrey Ink's Butterfly Kisses. The stitching is faux. I was too lazy to take out my machine and change the thread to black. Sorry mom, I know you gave birth to me and all, but I was just too lazy! LOL

Happy Birthday. Your card will be in the mail. :}

Music bookmarks

I had a great weekend performing. What fun. Now I'm just downright knackered.

As a little thank you to the music director and the accompanist (the amazing 1 man orchestra), I quickly whipped up these bookmarks. I've done them before on here, but this is all I have to show ya.
Here are the covers. I used SU In Colours. The little Diva charm is from the buck store as is the little hanging frame on the blue one. I used Cuttlebug music embossing folder and then the Quickutz music notes. Popped it up, there ya go. The music on the cover is a retired Stampin' Up! background stamp done with whisper white ink.

You can see the cuttlebug music folder again on the bookmark. The sentiment is from Nova Scotia. Unmounted red rubber. Sorry, don't know who it is. The big eighth notes are also from Cuttlebug. The tassels are from ClearBags Canada ? I have a feeling it may be called something else. Handy to have.

Here's a fun game: Can you name the piece of music under the bookmarks?

ok, it's taken way too long to write this up and with many interruptions, I don't even know what I'm posting about anymore. lol
so I'll say, "a bientot"

nuthin'

Been busy around here singing and rehearsing for concerts. It has been a few years since I've performed on stage as soloist and in the choir. Man, you should have seen me trying to find my "uniform" Whites and blacks. I finally got it all together and have to do 2 more concerts on Saturday. I'm so out of singing shape in terms of endurance. Binder back (tensing up from holding the binder in place for so long) being stuck in between 2 people in the row and not being able to spread my wings. :} And then there are the control top hose and the lovely looking shoes, not so lovely to stand in for hours. But hey, I love it!! Nice to do it again.

So, all that to say, I don't have much to show ya. Just a few bibs I did a while back.
The bibs are from IKEA. The apple is from SU Tart and Tangy and both sentiments are from Stamping Bella.

This star is from a kid's block of foam stamps from Michael's years ago.

Hoping to get some time to craft on Friday??!! Maybe.

Wanna cuppa?

I was so excited when my friend, Sarah, from www.sarahiscrafty , showed me her cards with the Quickutz Winter shapes. I was giggly. I had this idea in my mind that took me a few days to finish. So happy with it.

The paper is from K&Company. I bought the Christmas pack at Winners. They have awesome paper packs for cheap, cheap, cheap. The snowflakes are Cuttlebug and the tag plate is from the buck store. I thought I had the sentiment, "Warm Winter Wishes" but didn't so I wrote it and cut it. Having the dots on both ends was a fluke, but a good one.

Hope you like. I have a few more ideas with this set that also includes a snowman and 2 snowflake shapes.

Halloween in a snow storm

Well, not the real snow, thank goodness, or I should say, "I hope not!"
I bought this globe a while back, as my son has a fascination with them.
I used last year's Papertrey halloween set and on the other side a not so spooky house stamp, just coloured to look like halloween.

BIG TIP: do not use fine glitter in a snow globe. It doesn't sink and sticks to the side of the glass. It takes forever for it to settle and kinda ruins the effect.

Anyhow, it is a hit and can be changed for the next occasion. Fun fun.

Pocket silhouettes

I caved and took advantage of the SU sale last month and bought Pocket Silhouettes.I'm always drawn to itty bitty images, but them don't know what to do with them. Here is my attempt...

I used oval Nestabilities and a few buttons I have. Other than that, pretty straight forward. Anyone have any inspiration to throw my way?? I need a good dose of it.
