rainbow acorns

here are the wet felted acorns we made a few days ago.

I needlefelted them a bit first to get a nice round ball. It made it easier to keep the round shape while wet felting.

The kids enjoyed making them and then choosing just the right acorn top for each one.

And here is a mess I decided to tackle today. Unfortunately, a lot of it got cut off to untangle another day.

roving angels

Here are some new friends I made last night. I'm planning on making a bunch for Christmas tree ornaments

(sorry about the photos. It's the time of year where the weather doesn't cooperate with taking good pictures. the sun came out, but it was a sun shower)

I made a needlefelted bead for the head, then wrapped it with some roving.

They are happy twirling in my window.

wet felted soap

The kids and I were making wet felted balls for acorns, (more on that in a later post. Waiting for them to dry thoroughly) so I tried my hand at wet felting soap.

I have an idea for the next time I do it. And after reading about it a bit more, I need to felt it a little longer.

Here were a few end pieces I put together to felt.

I bought some honey soap at an applefest and will try to felt that also. I'm on a soap collecting mission now.

Needle Felted pumpkins

THese are easy to whip up.

Not much to say today. This is one batch of tomatoes from our garden. Stellar year for tomatoes isn't it?

who wants to trade??

I feel like getting some hand made "ME" mail. Who wants to trade me something for these snack sacks?

Plus a much larger one for picking up a few fruits and veg on the way home...

A variety of sizes

You can tie this one on the top as a bag or tie it all the way down to keep the vittles snug and in the bag.

How purdy would this look at your picnic?

And here they are all, nice and folded.

What do you have to do to get it? Send me a photo of something that you made, that you think I would like. If I do, I'll trade. I will ship internationally if you will. If I get 2 takers, I'll make up another batch. I will post when it has been filled.

thanks, have a good one,

craft sale preparations

I really should be upstairs finishing up some projects. Reason why they aren't finished is because I didn't feel like finishing them when I made them. And I still don't feel like finishing them. But I must. Sale tomorrow.

I sorted out all my schtuff on the guest bed so I wouldn't have to clean it up. It's quite a bit of stuff, but I still wish I had more of what I make. I wish I didn't have to finish up so much stuff! :}

Next time, I'll make an album of past projects.

If you're in the Toronto area on Saturday the 18th, come visit me at the Applicious Festival. Say hello.

have a good one.

stilts

After collecting limbs all summer, I finally caught DH with the saw out. So I got him to cut some stilts. 6", 4" and 2". He then drilled holes and I raided his sailing rope stash to use as handles.

The kids had fun trying out the different sizes. wobbling, going up hill, down hill

Falling down.

And when you fall down, you pick yourself back up...

frog purse

Rafael has the cutest interpretation of a frog.

So I asked him to show me how to draw it so I could make a coin purse for him.

He's so cute. Wish I had more room to make the legs longer. But this will do and is loved.

Oh, I made a hedgehog one also, but I forgot to take a pic. Next time....

Have a good one,

did someone say pirates?

I decided that making bendy pirate dolls for the eye patches was too time consuming. So I made pirates from the wooden doll pegs.

Some are in progress. Here they sit with their neighbours.

Notice the pirate on the left is snuggled in his patch lower. I had to make it a little longer to fit the pegs.

Daughter wanted a picture of the patch around her neck...

And a picture of her tights. :}

snack sack

I saw this kind of sack on someone's blog. (if you know where, please tell me)

Then I saw it in Martha Stewarts' Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts

I didn't use a pillow case as she suggested. Hers are more the size of a purse. It didn't take long at all and will take even less time when I get my serger rethreaded. grrrr.
These are holding tomatoes and muffins. Less plastic. yeah. More of these to be made.

And yippee for me, I won...

ain't nobody here but us chickens...

Howdy!
sad story to tell... my hard drive crashed! even more shocking as it was a mac. good side, DH backed it up at the end of July. I lost some work emails and photos from August, but the set from the Ravine visit with me and the kids is on his computer! yeah/ they were the only ones I was sad about losing. And now I haven't.

Here's a little story about chickens. When we were in Shelburne last month, our hosts had 4 chickens in their back yard. My kids became enamoured with them. Especially Rafael. He would greet the chickens in the morning, take a walk with them...

Talk with them. Looks like a bit of a lecture to me!? Who's giving the lecture?

Looking for eggs... 500 times a day. wonder they had any privacy to lay them.

And sometimes getting a bit of a surprise from them.

They were nice chickens, not very demanding and stayed out of your way. You just had to look down a lot and remind the kids to wear their shoes. :}

Wishing we had enough room for chickens. And of course, there is that pesky by-law about holding such creatures in a city. boo.

Run chickens, run!!!
