felt/vinyl pouch

Howdy!
here's a little pouch I modeled after something Neve had. It wasn't as easy as i thought it would be, but I'm sure the next one would be easier, should I choose to make them again.

Bit of felt and a bit of vinyl. I like to sew with vinyl. now that I know the secret of putting tissue paper over it before sewing. yep, it's that easy. A little harder to see when cutting it though. :}

The butterfly was cut out from Quickutz die and sewn on before I sewed the pouch together.

And now some other chit chat....
I spent 2 days going around town to find mohair boucle. I found some hand dyed by FibreArtists at Romni Wools. That place is amazing. I also found some crochet thread that I've been looking for forever. The wool is beautiful for doll hair. I went to my friend's place and she kindly and excitedly sewed it up for me. With the shoulder busted, I'm useless!. Anyhow, it looks just beautiful. I can't wait to see what it looks like all sewed up and the face on. So that's what I'm going to do......
I'll take pictures!

Leather pouch

I was given a pile of leather samples awhile back. Quite awhile back. Finally started to think about it. Hardest part was trying to remember to buy a machine needle for leather. When I asked what made the needle special, I was shown that it is slanted on the end more like a knife than an even point. No problems sewing with it.

I crocheted a flower and the blue bird is cut from pair of thrifted suede shorts with my QuicKutz die. Just let me say that the die didn't cut through the suede. Maybe if I take out the thin foam that is on it. It did leave an indentation, so I finished cutting it out with scissors.
And lastly, so sorry for the poorly focused pictures. I don't know what the problem is. Could be the poor lighting and the slow aperture or the lens, or just me. But even the auto mode is blurry. I really need to address this. It's driving me nuts.

have a great weekend.

The rocket is mine. the same as the rocket play set here

And here are the 2 pouches together. Sorry it's not in the mail yet Anna, it's a snow day here!

more softie trees

And now for some winter...More lovely trees...

Again, I used QuicKutz dies from their Christmas set a few years ago. Don't ya just wanna eat those wee gingerbread people?

And the hills of snow. this blue wool felt is amazing. The flecks of white makes good for water or snow. I have a tiny world pin cushion
waiting to be made. I have the cups and everything.

Oh no! I think we've been invaded!

Have a good one,

leaf garland

This morning, the kids painted some water colour paper in fall colours. After they dried, I used my cuttlebug and QuicKutz maple leaf die to cut them out.

Then I sewed them in a row with the sewing machine, just sewing straight through the paper and nothing in between.

I also needle felted a few more pumpkins and an apple.

Our autumn nature dish is starting to come together.

We're off for Turkey dinner with family tonight. This will come with us along with some homemade apple cake for the hosts.

Have a good one,

ornaments, assembly line

! Glad this order is over. Now I can work on some other things, An assembly line is the way to go when you have so many to do. When it all comes together, it feels good.

When you finish up the custom bags and slip them in, even better....

pretty scalloped felt balls

On my daily journey through blogland, I visited one of my favs....
homemade by Jill

She suggested some ornaments she'd may get to this year.

I like this one, as someone was explaining it to me just the other day.
Zakkalife

I just couldn't think about how to hide the knots of the threads when I used different colours, so I decided to make it part of the ornament.

I also used my scallop circle Quickutz die to make the circles. And a little mix of the colours...

I see snow all over blogland. We still don't have any here. At the moment, it is almost 3 degrees outside. A mild, calm, no wind blowing 3 degrees. Quite nice and acceptable for December. I hear we're in for some white stuff on Wednesday. We shall see.
It would help when I'm out schlecking the malls, corporate parties and sidewalks singing the joys of the season.

Last year's picture of a camera shy girlie. My she has grown so much since then.

Passport wallet

Our piano teacher is going on a long trip for Christmas, so I thought a passport wallet would be a timely Christmas Present.

I had the felt leaf from Quickutz on the windowsill, so I machine sewed it on for a bit of something to look at on the front. And us canadians like to show off our Maple Leaf.

Then I decided it needed a little pocket inside for the pieces of photo ID needed to board. I also made it quite tall for the boarding passes. I hate having everything spread out in pockets and purses. This way, it is all in one place.

I cut two 15x9.5 pieces of fabric in contrasting designs. The folded sections are around 3-3.5 wide, leaving the opened wallet about 8 inches. Guess that makes the finished, closed piece 4x9.5.

I found me a black wool vest with some great embroidered flowers on it.... wait till you see what I do with it.

Key chains all in a row

I took another go at making some keychains from these great acrylic keychain holders I got from a crafty friend. (thanks)

I made a bunch from Quickutz dies, ballet, music, happy face, football.....

Then I discovered my rock star set! Jackpot! I had such fun mixing these up.

Yep, just 1 day left to make signs, etc. for the craft bazaar. I made a lot of each type of thing I'm selling. Let's hope the people like and are buying.

microscope slide ornaments all in a row

I had a big blitz of making these ornaments the other day. The ideas and combinations are endless, I could happily spend another week making different designs.
here they are all in a row:

Here are some from the music collection

And one for ballet

And another from the see through collection. These are a little tricky, as you need to consider the hook on the back. I make the swirl of the hook part of the ornament. I use crystal effect from Stampin' Up! to adhere the hooks.

The shapes are die cuts from Quickutz and Cuttlebug. and the music notes from a mini punch set from the Philippines. I need to add some ribbon to the hooks to finish them off.

The colours are a shade off in the 1st few photos. Playing around with my settings too much. And notice the background blurry in the HO Ho Ho one? New camera! Heee heeeeeeee!

felt cupcake..on a card!

First off, let me apologize for the quality of photos. it's a dreary day here and the lights in my kitchen cast a yellow glow. The colours are kinda off.
My mom's bday is in a few days. Since I have to mail this card, it will probably still be late.. so here you are mom, your card!

I had fun making the felt cupcake. Just some machine stitching on the base and a few beads on the icing.

And I thought this inside up all by myself!

My son built up his muscles punching out all the candles. He got bored, distracted, otherwise entertained at about 46. not bad.

Gluing them all on with an almost finished bottle of zip dry glue was not fun, let me tell ya. ugh.

Candles are Quickutz, polka dots are Papertrey Ink and the HB stamp is Stampin' Up!

slide christmas ornaments

Howdy!
As promised, here are some of the ornaments I've made from microscope slides and copper foil. I love making these. The blog limits only 5 pictures per post, so you'll be seeing more of these in the future.

The trees are from cuttlebug and the snowman, gingerbread people, reindeer, mittens, (oh, my mitten one is missing) and hearts are from Quickutz.

These are a little different than last years, as I put paper on the back of these. Last year, I left the glass open so that you could see through it.

I made 2 boa fleece scarves tonight. one for me and one for Neve. they were that much fun to make. I'll get a picture tomorrow. I can't believe I made something for me and Neve to be all matchy poo!

the Maple Leaf forever!

Did that bring a song to your ear? Alexander Muir wrote the unofficial national anthem"Maple Leaf Forever" back in the day, before "O Canada" became the official national anthem. Cool thing about it, he wrote it while living? visiting? staying? in a little house a few minutes from here. He was inspired by the maple tree in the yard. A few years ago, the city fixed up the house, called it Maple cottage and it is now used for local events and city run programs. I was invited to sing in a quartet at the opening ceremonies. Was a neat event and nice enough memory to tell you about it!

So..... anyway.....,,

we've been playing with the new Quickutz maple leaf die. They requested card making for craft session today. I love when that happens. All gathered around the cuttlebug on the floor with bits of paper and smiles all around as they glue, glue, glue.
Man, am I a little talkative tonight or wha? enough of that.

here is a card:

And another

It was very hard NOT to add anything else to this card.

And here is a card where I added TOO much. I loved the natural paper, then went a little crazy on the pearls. Oh well.

I cut out more in felt, music sheets and print. Oh yes, and some cork. I'm off to play.

Thanks for looking and Happy Gobble Gobble weekend to you.
