rewind

Hi Folks,
I've been sewing up a storm here. Mostly repeats of things I've done before for orders or in preparation for 2 more craft sales in a few weeks. Next year, i think i'll start making Christmas things in January. no kidding. i can't keep up.
Anyhow, Here's a post I did last Dec. The birdie from here is the same pattern for the birdies below. I just made the wings bigger and positioned them differently.
Even these birds look different now, I've added a clear seed bead for the eye and have a glass drop bead hanging from the bottom.

Read on .......

Ok, so all my 'work' surfing the blogs at night finally paid off. I've been searching for something... didn't know what it was, but something to satisfy my creating beast for the season. Well, check this out
Fa la la la la Felt
on Handmade Cathy Gaubert.

I drooled over the samples and went in search for the book. It's not out until August! So i bought the ebook. A simple process and instant gratification. Only problem is that I'm a book in my hands person. So as I find a project that i want to do, I print it off and and work from that. i think i'll have to purchase the actual papercopy when it comes out. Such great eye candy and many projects that I will do.

So here is my take on Little Birdie

Oh such fun and joy and felt!

Thanks for looking,
be back soon with something new when I can get the models in order. and better light. The weather has been gloomy to say the least.

more softie trees

And now for some winter...More lovely trees...

Again, I used QuicKutz dies from their Christmas set a few years ago. Don't ya just wanna eat those wee gingerbread people?

And the hills of snow. this blue wool felt is amazing. The flecks of white makes good for water or snow. I have a tiny world pin cushion
waiting to be made. I have the cups and everything.

Oh no! I think we've been invaded!

Have a good one,

softie trees

Last year, I bought the FaLaLaLa Felt book online before it came out in book form. I'm beginning to think a lot like Christmas in my head, so I pulled out some wool suiting material I bought in the ends section in the middle of a heat wave (hugely discounted!) and went to print out the pattern.

Oh. My. Goodness!! What trouble I had. My fault. Every time I scanned and tried to resize, it would come out the same size on the printed page. Frustrating. after 1 hour! Yes, 1 hour of cutting into my crafting alone time, I realized the problem: The printer was set on fit to page. So no matter what size it was configured to, it was going to be the same. I tell you so you don't have to go through it too! here endeth the lesson for today.

On to the project:

I had fun with my QuicKutz dies and have made quite a mess on the floor upstairs. But that is upstairs, not where we live everyday, so there it will stay.
A bit of reverse applique...

Here they are together. I call this my small size.

emm, I was so chatty at the beginning, I have nothing left to say!

Have a good weekend!

few odds and ends

Whew! We're back home from a whirlwind visit to my sister in laws. I drove through every type of winter weather in 3 hours. in the dark. with a sleeping family. Lovely to visit, Glad to be home.

So here are a few things I made for my godson...

He really enjoys the felt cubes I made for him here, but the quality of felt wasn't standing up to baby drooling and chewing very well, so his mommy took it away. Being the auntie that I am, I made him a new block from fabric. And put some ribbons around it. The funnest thing about this block is the square of chip bag I sewed in one panel of the block. it crinkles! now he chews on it to his content and the ribbons have frayed as I hoped they would.

I also sewed a little square with ribbons and the chip bag liner. Here's a little tip... turn the chip bag so the silver foil side will be visible on the outside. I put the words facing out and you can see them in the block. Makes for a cute story. Their house is full of hockey fanatics, so the fabric is appreciated.

And another little birdie for the tree.( template is from Fa la la la Felt mentioned here.
this is how I finalized my ornaments this year. Just a straight stitch with enough thread at the end to crochet a loop. And a bit of stuffing in the body.

I still have to photograph the DS case I made for Rafael and the pile of sewing books I got for Christmas. When my headache goes away, I'm hoping to go visit my serger. It's waiting for me.....

Thanks for looking,
Amanda

felt cupcake pincushions

Here is my 2nd project from
Fa la la la felt

Last year, I bought the pincushion on the far right at a craft sale. I loved the size of it for my stamping desk. Geesh, remember when I used to stamp?

So I was excited when the Fa la la la felt e-book had a pattern for it. They mystery of what was inside was solved! It's a bottle cap, or stopper, as we would say in Newfoundland. In the e-book, they made them into little ornaments by putting a ribbon on the top.

These are so fun and simple to make. I have a few more I want to do before the season ends. Come to think of it, I may just make a half a dozen as cupcakes for the play kitchen. how yummy would they look?

thanks for looking,
Amanda

Oh, here is a pic of the vest I wrote about a few days ago. Can you guess what it will be?? It will be a bit before I get to it, as I have to make 34 microscope slide ornaments for next week. Assembly line in my future, very near future.

Thanks for looking,
